I am truly sorry for you. It must be some kind of awful to be that paranoid about people snooping on you. I browse the web with full javascript, cookies, VB, Flash, and all that good stuff (almost)Fully enabled and enjoy the web in all its interactive animated goodness. Is it really such a bad thing if someone makes a buck of knowing that I tend to go to certain types of web sites?

I think it is just that. There have been a few posts on /. about it. The general concensus seems to be that $10.00 is below the mark of caring for a lot of people and if they can get 2 or 3 hours out of it then it was worth it, and if they can't then no big deal. The creature editor will come as part of the game too, so you don't have to buy both, it is just also made available separatly for people that want to try it out early. If $10.00 is too much for you then you can get the preorder bundle for $54.95 which efectively reduces the price of the Creature Creator to $5.00 if you planned to buy Spore any way.

  3. Re:Adding it to my wishlist... on Professional Techniques for Video Game Writing · · Score: 1

Firs off, the job posting you are looking for is "Game Designer". Depending on the company and the actual job the Game Designers duties will vary though. Sometimes it could be just story writing, other times they could be looking for level designers, game ballance, event scripters. Frequently the designer will be doing all of those things and more. Rarely is there a posting specificaly for story writer. Although, here are some exceptions.
Secondly, to get into the field you really just need to (come close) to the requirements posted in the job listing and apply by sending in a resumey and/or filling out the job aplication provided with the listing. For a writer, have a portfolio of your work handy if they want to see some samples. Most companies these days want you to have a degree, so if you do not have any college that would be the best place to start if you are having trouble getting picked up.
I could go on forever but this should help get you started. Good Luck.

You are mostly correct. In the fact that if you were to create this MMO you do get to keep it and try to sell and profit off of it. Although what they mean by non-reimbursable Space Act Agreement is that (get this) you don't have to pay them. Where as a Reimbursable SAA means that you would have to pay them for the time they spend. Such as if they had a subject matter expert on laungh trajectories or something you would need to pay for his time if you needed to have him help with something. I was at the RFP meeting for the MMO because my company was thinking about bidding on this thing before we knew it was a NRSAA.

First off, I don't mean to be presumptuous, but it seems that most /.ers are a fairly intelligent bunch. So, why fight with vendors in the first place. The best option would be to build your own machine. It is really as easy as hooking up an entertainment center (sometime easier) and usually cheaper. The best part about it, you can get your computer with absolutely nothing pre installed. I just put together a computer from newegg.com for ~$600.00 (Core2 Duo E8500, 2gig DDR2 1066 ram, GeForce 8800 GT 512M vid card, 750W psu) all with no operating system.

A lot of you seem to be assuming that Google is trying to make your health information freely available to the public. That is not the case. This article talks about the possibility of your information getting STOLEN from google. Which, last I checked is illigal. So if your insurance compay got there hands on your information they would be contributing to illigal activities and run the risk of being shut down or at least sued to Hell and back. Right from the Google Health Web site.

Google stores your information securely and privately. We will never sell your data. You are in control, you choose what you want to share and what you want to keep private. Also it is not like google is going out and digging up all of your records, you have to manualy upload your records to their servers. If there is something you absolutely can not have get out then don't up load it, then it's not there to be stolen.
