I guess I should have waited for the second generation of the 4G iPod. I have the 4G iPod and have found the screen scratches just as easy. I think it is because the screen is flush mounted with the case rather than sunk a bit.
There is one improvement. FIPS 140-2 compliancy. Outlook presently doesn't have the ability to do AES S/MIME encryption without using a 3rd party CSP. Microsoft is saying they won't be adding the functionality into Office until 12.
It is designed to hook up to your stereo as an external cd player. Works with most car stereos ironically mine 2002 Cavalier doesn't (2001 yes, 2003 yes but 2002 no:( )
10-30 minutes on the phone without making a sale is going to make them look bad. Yeah but that is wasting my time. The best thing is ask them to take you off your call list. About 2 years ago I used to get telemarketing calls every day or two. Once I started doing this, the calls stopped. I get maybe one a month at most.
I think if the Oil companies built more refineries the price would probably drop rather than finding more methods of extracting oil. But why would they do that as it costs them money to build and potentially drops their profit.
17% of the US imported oil is provided by Canada and from what I can tell Canada is not as greedy about it as the OPEC countries. Mind you extracting from the Tar Sands is more expensive and difficult than from the oil fields of the ME.
Isn't it a contradiction if the mice can regenerate any tissue "excpet" for the heart, lungs, entire limbs "you name it"?
Note the period between brain and heart. Usually that means some sort of ending. In other words, the brain can't be regenerated but everything else can.
Geez someone pissed in your corn flakes this morning
Hey, I was doing desktop support in the late eighties when one of the electrical engineers put in a ticket that his LAN connection wasn't working - bring him a new NIC card.
Yeah EE were the worst. I was working at Newbridge in the 90's and had to guide one in the intricacies of vi to modify his logon script for his Sun box.
I had a 486 SX 25 Ambra computer that I had upgraded by: Installing a 486 DX2 66 in the expansion socket Added a Sound Blaster 16 Added a 4x CDROM Installed a 33.6 USR Modem that was flashed to a 56K (which worked) Increased the RAM from 3M to 8M
I had decided to buy a used 512M Hard drive which would have increased my capacity to 3/4 GIG (wow) and the guy who was selling it to me came over. I plugged it in one way and it didn't pick it up so I flipped it over. Next thing you know KABLAM a capacitor on the sound card blows.
Result was a fried motherboard, sound card and power supply (I think it was a 200W). I figure I pushed the power supply and it decided to fry it. That sucked. I had to wait until I got my tax return to get replacements.:(
They have been trying to inform developers about storing info in HKEY_CURRENT_USER rather than HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE since Windows 95 but most developers looked at the "Designed for Windows XX" as a cash grab from Microsoft. (Which it somewhat is).
I think the answer is yes there are tools for remote management and Microsoft has started to see the light (about bloody time). Permissions: xcacls Network services: netsh
VBScript also has a good amount of power especially if you start using AUI. Plus most of their gui tools do work with remote computers.
I have seen that as well but that is the fault of no one putting pressure on the application manufacturer to address it by telling them that needing admin privileges is unacceptable to run an application. However majority of the problem is the IT staff not having the backing to lock down their systems by the higher ups. I have worked in environments where the staff is perfectly aware of the security issues they have and have gone on record opposing it but are not getting supported high enough in the corporate ladder to lock things down. Instead they have to deal with the stupidity of users.
Similar thing has happened in Canada. The architect who designed the Museum of Civilization in Ottawa/Hull had previously designed a church out west (I think it was in Alberta). Ended up that the church wanted to add on a small wing and was also having huge problems with water leaking through the roof.
He fought tooth and nail not to have them do any additions or modifications as it would "ruin the spirit" of the building. A lot of bitterness was created. I think the church ended up winning.
True but that is because right now there is no restrictions being placed on WMP as of yet. Make it so Cletus' new compooter can't play them moving pictures and Madine will get upset. So they will hook up to that there Intarwebs and get another player./didn't start out as trailer trash but for some reason it ended up going that direction.
Your analogy would be correct if you had a mechanic living in your house being paid to ensure your car is running optimumly.
Users won't change because they are lazy and as long as they can get to the Interweb then they could give two shits. Your typical user is a 12:00 flasher who can't figure out how to set their VCR's time. Machine gets slow? buy a new one or take it into see the geek squad or mom and pop who will tell them they should keep their antivirus up to date and stop going to those Swedish teen porn links. (of course they are going to still go anyways). They don't want to learn, point is that Microsoft has provided a tool that admins can use to keep their machines up to date called SUS server which will update your machines automatically while allow the admin control of what patches get applied to the OS.
The US soldiers often have the benefit of superior intelligence so they don't have to ask, but mostly confirm who they are going to shoot.
Or in some cases, request permission to fire, get denied and then drop a bomb or two on coalition forces thus resulting in the death of four allied infantry personel.
I did some experimenting using USB2 and Firewire enabled portable disk drives for a solution for some techs to use to carry around Ghost images. I had a laptop that was going to be running the Ghost console providing Ghostcast sessions with the ghost images stored on the portable drive. I found that the firewire worked great, but the USB2 would pause as it couldn't keep up with the demand over the 100M connection. What was even more interesting was that the Firewire was faster than even having the image stored locally on the hard drive (4500RPM laptop drive compared with 7200RPM with loads of caching).
It's kinda like when Diana passed away - people still thought Charles had something to do with that...jeez. Nah, it had more to do that she was stupid and didn't wear a seatbelt.
Strange, last year I sat through a presentation on ESX sponsored by IBM and they said otherwise although it was a customized kernel. Plus when they booted it up it sure looked like a Linux Kernel bootscreen down to saying it was a 2.6 kernel.
They must have changed sometime between then and now
Assuming you have enough workstations to warrant it, your solution may be to set up a SUS server internally. Then you can download all the necessary updates onto the SUS server and control what patches you want your workstations to be updated to.

Pretty much most new GM cars do. Cavalier, sunfire, saturn, etc. Had it for about a week before I turned it off

portable digital audio player market was not a strong enough strategic fit
More like their audio players were pieces of shit.
Wife had a Nike PSA before philips took over and it it was a lemon

Mod parent down. Actual title for article should be "CNN IT dept gets turfed for being incompetent and not patching their workstations"
Do you have a list of said applications?
Would like to know.

Funny but the truth is that the chairs in hotels are damned uncomfortable after a while of sitting.

Slightly off topic. Anyone had any experience with P2V which is vmWares tool for migrating a physical machine into a Virtual one?
