I installed Outlook 2003 and right now I can say I really like it. I really like the little window that pops up in the bottom right hand corner that says the title of the email and a portion of the first line with the option to delete it and ok it.
I also really like the Safe Senders option in Junk Email
I am running Outlook 2002 at home and there are two things I don't like about it: 1. PST support: The interface for setting up the location of your PST file was more intuitive and straightforward in Outlook 2000. They "softened" the interface up too much making more unecessary steps in saying where you want your PST file to be located if it is stored in a nondefault location.
2. Rules not flexible enough: The biggest annoyance with setting up Rules was that I would set specific rules from specific domains to go to specific folders (i.e delete the files (spam is an example)) but the New Message flag which I like to have for normal messages would not disappear. Without getting into VBA this wasn't possible. I think they need to become more flexible in what you can do with rules. Now SpamAssasin is the shiznit for identifying Spam but all it would do is mark the email as Spam at that point I would have to use a rule to get rid of it. (Is this better in Outlook 2k3?)
Not being facesious (sp?) but you should have asked: "Self, what is Offline storage files (.ost) and why didn't I use them wit Outlook 2K2?"
Seriously though, we have users with laptops who do a lot of travelling which may involve connecting over phone (with Encryption) or satellite and not necessarily from the nicest locations with conditioned phone lines (think Middle East (I mean really middle!) Connecting up to their mailbox can be dog slow. Using OST though dramatically improves the speed since all of their read email is stored on the local machine.
It is better than using a PST as at least on the Exchange server their data is being backed up. If they have all their mail going to a PST on their local drive, chances are it isn't getting backed up.
I used to think so too until Jack Nicholson won an Oscar for "A few good men". He is a good actor but I thought that for the little amount he was on the screen, it wasn't enough to justify the award. My opinion of course.
I'm sorry but our group (20 software developers, and about 25 Operations Support) has migrated approximately 20000 users from 95 to 2000 in less than a year. Successfully. We also have (inhouse) software developed that automatically patches apps and hotfixes. Within 3 days we had approximately 36,000 workstations patched for the Blaster virus with about 200 failed patches without having to send one admin in to patch. Right now we have 40,000 workstations that we do support for (course it is only 3rd level).
2000 is not a bad OS as long as you are able to augment it to do what you want. Next year XP...
Confiscate the car the first offense at any point above the minimum legal limit. Hell if they can confiscate your vehicle, boat, etc for over fishing why not confiscate the car?
What's funny is that I have found my machine is less stable since I just upgraded. I went from a stable machine of a VIA KT266 mobo, EIDE 80G, TI4200 and Athlon 1700 to a KT600, ATI9800 Pro and Athlon 2600 and SATA 120G.
My TV card has stopped working with the sound card (had them both before on the other board and they worked together but if I disable the sound card (an Audigy 2) and use the builtin sound it works fine). Also the machine will lock up once in a while.
What about if you do the following: 1. turn off SSID broadcasting 2. Use WEP 128bit encryption 3. Limit connections to specific MAC addresses Is that good enough outside setting up VPN between hosts?
the game sucks. I played through Postal 2 and it was rough. It get tired and boring really quickly. Once you have played the demo you have played all the good parts. Kind of like when all of the funny scenes of a movie are in the trailer.
There needs to be a new moderation added. Call it "Tired" as in this joke is old and isn't really that funny. Kind of like how the French always surrender and that Bush is a moron.
(Not agreeing or disagreeing with the comments including the fact that MS has always been security unconscious but that the jokes are no longer funny)
Plus setting any unpatched box Windows or Linux on the Internet with no Firewall in between is stupid
Actually that doesn't make sense since: 1. Chewbacca never lived on Endor he just visited. 2. Ewoks don't live on the planet Endor. They live on the moon of Endor.
Yes I know it is from South Park but I had to point that out.
is that there are a lot of shows that use this one sound bite for a cop car where it chirps. Usually it is a scene where a cop car needs to use the siren a small amount. CSI and Law and Order have used it (CSI a lot). It is so distinctive that it sounds fake and added in. My.02
Yes but look at subsection 2 in Section 80: (2) Subsection (1) does not apply if the act described in that subsection is done for the purpose of doing any of the following in relation to any of the things referred to in paragraphs (1)(a) to (c):
(a) selling or renting out, or by way of trade exposing or offering for sale or rental;
(b) distributing, whether or not for the purpose of trade;
(c) communicating to the public by telecommunication; or
(d) performing, or causing to be performed, in public
Specifically I suspect (b) limits copying anything over the net (i.e Kazaa, torrent, etc) and would be considered unlawful? Not sure please enlighten me otherwise. ITANAL (I Too Am Not A Lawyer)
-split=640 on the command line will get you 640M chunks of an image. The most annoying thing which happened yesterday was I had a cd image which consisted of 2 640M images and a 3rd of 600k reimaged at -split=641 fixed that:)
I have built some generic images that worked on multiple machines i.e Dell, Compaq, homegrown. The catch was that you needed a different image for ACPM and non ACPM workstations. I will see if I can find a sysprep.inf. I also posted earlier about what is needed with generic images.
The project I am presently working with involves rollouts of windows 2000 workstations at different sites of 50 to 3000 workstations. Some of the sites are using generic images that worked on all of their workstations. All you need to do was: 1. Copy all necessary drivers to the workstation. 2. Make sure that the OEMPNPDriversPath entry in the sysprep.inf had entries for all of the folders copied on the workstation.
When the machine boots up it will search the folders for any hardware it founds.
I guess I am lucky. I am going to Yellowknife tomorrow for work and it will be interesting. According to one of the people there, you don't even bother noticing them anymore since it happens all the time.
As long as they don't "lucasify" it later on and modify it (i.e greedo and solo firefight in SW IV)

I think they have got something good here

Just some observations.

Don't know. :)
I'm not allowed to look at it directly.
Yeah but if it did, Symantec and PowerQuest could have Microsoft brought up on Monopoly abuse.

Some guys at work own them as they have motorcycles that they bring in to work during the summer

This indicates revenue of a million a movie; that's a paltry sum which no American movie house would bother with
:)
I think the porno industry would probably not agree with that

Really? we paid $8 Canadian for ours.

You obviously have never worked for a certain government organization that runs around with guns and tanks. No need to tell them, their logs will
