That's pretty much how I've interpreted all of the things I've read.....buy the cheapest card and get two years of free (2hrs per day) wi-fi at $tarbucks......not sure of the implications of having TWO cards.
So, the "edge" of the universe is an event horizon and the "edge" of a black hole is an event horizon, therefore it isn't turtles all the way down, it's universes all the way down.....like matrioshka dolls (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matryoshka_doll)
I have mine too....just no joystick port to plug it in to....
The MDK demo that came with it was pretty cool....the force feedback was well integrated into the game (the tick left and tick right as you ran, the recoil of the gun, etc.) It wasn't just vibrations ("rumble") like game pads today.
Even the summary refers to the subpeona issued to OSU. Last time I checked, that was pretty much a court order. (Standard disclaimers apply - don't seek legal advice from Slashdot, etc.)
I think we need to unionize Slashdot posters so that we can get a better deal, too. If it weren't for us, this site wouldn't make any money and what do we get for it? Articles 3 days after Digg had them? Typo's and grammatical errors in the summaries? ASCII porn?
Only once the new buyer sells his Yahoo stock back at the 20-something price......as of this morning, it's still near $30, so the people who bought it at $30 have not lost any value. The people who held it at 20 something received real value. If the stock price never goes back to 20 something, then where's down to counter the up? I fail to see the zero right now.
Looks like cool stuff.....has anyone figured out how to do a PXE install of it? Unfortunately, the Latitude C400 I have as my "toy" machine doesn't have an optical drive and can't boot from USB devices.....or if I can install it over Ubuntu from a remote mounted CD.....
Certainly. Yahoo was valued at $20 something by the market. Then MS made a bid for them for $30 per share. The market seized the opportunity and the stock went up to the bid. That, my friend, is true value to all of those who sold their stock @ the bid price.
PXE boot install to a Dell Latitude D400 with no optical drive.....worked like magic, no tweaks needed (which is good because that really isn't my cup of tea)....the PXE boot worked based on steps straight off of some guys blog (http://hugi.to/blog/archive/2006/12/23/ubuntu-pxe-install-via-windows). Not bad for a free laptop that's several years old and won't install XP even though that was what was on there (no optical drive, won't install from the floppies). The laptop was free because the previous owner couldn't get XP back on....lucky me.
What I want is a computer where the "OS" is just a virtual PC launcher. I would have multiple OS installs on scaled down "OS" virtual drives and then a common (shared) "user" drive that consumes the rest of the available space. An OS wouldn't be shutdown or started, it would just be resumed (and in the case of Microsoft, reset occassionally). And the virtual environment would have a set of drivers for my hardware so that my virtual PC's could use full 3D rendering and sound and whatever else I stick in that box.
Actually, it just says Firefox under Linux. So MS has lost those users on the OS already, they probably don't care if they lose them on the e-mail. Those running Windows (even if using Firefox) are still a source of revenue. Linux Firefox users are probably the most likely group to be blocking advertisments, so even that revenue stream is pretty dry. Why waste resources trying to get blood from that turnip?
If you have had Hotmail for years, then you probably were grandfathered in to the Outlook plug in....I read my Hotmail in Outlook and have for YEARS. Of course, that's the Windows version of Outlook, so I don't really have the problem with the web client not working, either. But it makes for a much better interface than either web version.
If a bird starts to spin and brings it's wings to the "rest" position, it should increase the rev rate......so, build a plane that can do that and the barrel rolls should get a little more exciting.

http://www.jiwire.com/ Look for the FREE providers, but the site lists all, so if you are desperate, you can look for pay providers, too.

It's SOOOO much easier to do a spinning pile driver (Zangief) in Street Figher with a joystick than a thumbstick.

Can we retro fit Clippy's DNA to be that of suicidal paper clip? That would be a good Office Assistant.

The Big Bang Theory (CBS), not sure what day and when because my DVR records it for me.
While it is sitcom level tripe, the geek facts in this show are pretty accurate.....my non-geek wife enjoys it and so do I.
You can catch all of the prior episodes on CBS.com, too.

Apparently you were using the wrong benchmark. You just thought you were fast.

I would think it would have a lot to do with the same reason that an ice skater can spin so fast......angular momentum and all that: http://www.bsharp.org/physics/stuff/skater.html
