The thing about the Zune is that it's made by Microsoft. This is what is causing the stir in the community. It will succeed too. Microsoft has options available to them that other companies can only dream of. All in all Microsoft is lacking on innovation compared to other companies like Apple. Why might you ask? Well, there are many valid explanations for this from the fact that they have to support legacy hardware to the fact that they must worry about how they implement things in their operating systems so they don't destroy the competition.
I believe it is evident that Microsoft is capable of releasing a great piece of hardware. Look at the Xbox360. And for those running Vista, well, it has it's quirks but all-in-all is a fantastic operating environment. The Zune is something new and while I'm not crazy about the design of the device it functionality is where it shines. I personally will not buy one for myself, but I can easily see my wife picking up one of these. One last note about the design versus the iPod. The iPod looks great out of the box, but look again in 2 or 3 months. That design really means nothing.
If Microsoft can incorporate the Zune with the Windows media center environment (Vista Media Center or WMP 11), I forsee the Zune being a beautiful success.
I think that's a great idea, but the advertising company that can figure out a more creative way of implementing this will be the most successful. For instance, let's say the commercial has 10 images over a 30 second period. If you want to see that commercial you have to use the fast forward x 4. It's interactive and I'm willing to bet people will watch it simply to do it (many will likely watch the commercial 3-4 times simply to make sure they watched it correctly).
As much as many of us despise ads - they are not going anywhere. I mean seriously how many times have I seen this "Dice" ad at the top of/.
The use of P2P sharing really puts a strain on networks. It's not only illegal, but it hurts everyone else using the network especially if your admin doesn't have some type of QOS implemented (there are always ways around this). I come to this conclusion after administrating a network of 300 university students for 3 years.
How can one say that Windows XP is fine as an operating system? I believe that is an absurd thought. Anyone that has sat behind a Windows XP machine will feel the performance of the OS degrade over time. I recommend many of my clients to reinstall windows at least once a year. I understand legacy support has much to do with the problems that plague windows, but Vista has a promise to resolve this.
There are countless reason to upgrade windows and if you don't - well, you're probably are running OS X as your main OS.
YouTube is adding 65,000 new videos uploaded per 24 hours. The site has almost 20 million visitors each month, according to Nielsen/NetRatings.
The value of this company easily exceeds 1 billion. I wonder if this is the fastest growing company ever.
I'm interested to see the performance from "Broadway" opposed to "Gekko" (Gamecube). The chip is suppose to perform much better and be 20% more power efficient.
It's great to see this type of thing coming up in the world. I gives my hope for my own business plan. I just hope that the screen isn't riddled with ads.
Consumer A visits there local Best Buy to pick up a brand new PS3. Sales rep. informs him that he needs to buy an extra cable that does not come with the unit for it to work on his hi-def tv.
Consumer A picks up a $60 Sony HDMI cable in another isle.
If Sony manufactures these things why don't they supply PS3 buys with one. I'm sure they can make them for very cheap.

I can't express how much this saddens me. I spent so many hours in my college days, which only ended in May, watching Steve Irwin. Being stoned only made it that much more interesting.
I'm excited to get my hands on the almost complete version of Windows Vista. Aside from all the negative publicity this OS has received I'm really looking forward to a new interface for my computer.
I was just thinking this the over night when I was ripping DVDs to my Media Center PC so I could have access to them on my XBox without having to load DVDs all the time.
It's obvious that this format war can be looked at more as a cat fight. Fun to watch, but having no lasting effect.
I like the reasoning behind the startup sound and it will be very cool to listen to the first 20 or 30 times. The programmers over at Microsoft will realize it first after they have heard the same startup sound for the 10,000th time and deem an off button a must have.
Blocking such email addresses does more good then bad. Millions of customers will no longer receive spam and the few that it effects is only a small concern. Decisions like this are only made after proper research. I own and operate a WISP and know that it is often critical to block out specific servers. I've done so many times and never have received a complaint.
I understand that some customers would like the freedom to decide how they need to protect themselves when online, but the majority are enthused not to receive that piece of unwanted mail. The./ community is unique in thier stance against this because there is an above average of intelligence reguarding technology, but for the average customer does not have the intermiediate knowledge required to properly block themselves from unwanted email and other malicious activity.
This absolutely put an end to what I call the good old days of computing for me. You know those days when you where on IRC trying to find the latest build of Windows 98.
Those were the days...
According to a report, about 200 thousand component sets were shipped to Asus in June, which means that the company is in position to build 200 thousand game consoles. Seems like a nice start for Sony.
Go to Metageek.net and pick up there cheap spectrum analyzer. Great tool for seeing what is interfering in a 2.4 ghz spectrum.

I still play LoRD everday. Remember the "jennie" code? =)

I agree 100%. The problem is that it is easier to click 50 songs to download illegally than to click 5 songs that you purchase.

It's funny that many of the auction that I have seen on eBay actually close higher then if you had bought it at a retail store.

That is absolutely ridiculous. I want it!
Gnome looks great, but for some reason I can never get used to the interface. I'm so much more productive using KDE. Maybe it's just me.

I haven't had a legitimate copy of Windows since 3.1, so I guess it's time to cave in and buy a license.
