I know this is off subject and feel free to mod me as such, but did anyone else that was not logged in while trying to view this story get automatically forwarded to the craptastic beta.slashdot.org site? I know it is only a matter of time before Dice forces that train-wreck on us but I would much rather not switch until I am forced to. I mean if I wanted to be Javascripted to death, or the likes I would go visit some God awful PHPNuke blog site! Thanks a lot Dice :P

This post is almost entirely inaccurate. From the article: "An international group of scientists has shown that a drug candidate designed by scientists from the Florida campus of The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) significantly increases exercise endurance in animal models..." So the article is actually stating that it will increase an individuals endurance in order to allow people who normally can not perform exercise, to exercise (i.e. someone with an injury or someone who is overweight.)

My source is http://blog.epa.gov/blog/2009/09/where-does-my-electricity-come-from/ and as it says in the article there is no state that is even at the 50% level of it's electricity being provided by renewable sources. So, by that factor every state in the union has at least 51% or more of it's electricity provided by some sort of fossil fuel, whether it be natural gas, coal, oil, etc... Therefore, at the current status quo the situation will worsen, not get better as the number of electric cars increase unless we start increasing the number of renewable electricity sources.

  8. I find it hilarious... on Tesla Motors May Be Having an iPhone Moment · · Score: -1

...that people actually think that the electric cars of today are the answer to our fuel and pollution problems. I would love to know where these idiots think electricity comes from. Yes, there are clean electricity sources but for the most part electricity comes from burning fossil fuels just like your car, either coal, or oil. So, even though electric cars help in some small way right now later as the electric car population increases they will be just as harmful as our current vehicles. They may even be more harmful since they will be using electricity and that will take away from the electricity that we largely depend on for survival to heat, cool, and light our homes and businesses. So, to all the liberals out there that think electric cars are the answer...get off your idiot soap box!

I clean my gun after every trip to the range, I oil it regularly, and do everything I am supposed to do. Even with that much care there is still the possibility that it won't fire at some point, and throwing a battery into the mix is not doing to do anything but make that possibility increase.

  24. Yes it is! on Is the Wii U Already Dead? · · Score: 1

The reason it was dead on arrival is that they changed too much that was cool and original about the first Wii and the only feature that is semi-cool about the new one isn't that big of a deal. Let's compare

    Wii

    1. 1. Completely original, ground breaking, motion sensitive controller system that changed game consoles as we know them (Even made Microsoft copy it to an extent)
    2. 2. Fun casual games that sucked the player in because they were almost like doing the real activities but in your house (i.e. Bowling, Tennis, Frisbee, etc). These games were the reason that my 63 y/o parents own a Wii, because they could bowl again without having to pick up a heavy bowling ball, play tennis again without overexerting their selves, so on and so forth
    3. 3. Classic Nintendo games that everyone loves plus backwards compatible with Game Cube games and accessories = awesome!

    Wii U

    1. 1.Take most of the Wii list away and add a sucky new controller that is supposed to be innovative but is just kind of what it would have been like if Sony used the PSP to control the Play Station = Dead Console

So, by changing the recipe without any real new innovation they alienated a lot of the Wii fans. I don't see any added value to the Wii U so I will stick with my Wii. I have my computer if I want 1080p quality games. What I want my Wii for is fun games where 1080p doesn't make a difference besides is Mario really supposed to be in high def I mean come on people!

  25. The harsh reality is.. on CES: Tiny Fuel Cell is Supposed to Charge a Cell Phone for Two Weeks (Video) · · Score: 1

...that with current technology fuel cells may be able to trickle charge a phone for a couple of weeks, but we are no where near replacing good old fossil fuels with any kind of fuel cell, battery cell, or other technology. The closest thing we have is the Tesla electric cars which do a more than reasonable job, but they are expensive. Not to mention that a lot of electricity comes from burning fossil fuels, like coal and oil, which still doesn't help the environment. So, if everyone were to convert to electric cars we would still have an issue with supply and demand. More electricity would be used, more coal would be burned, and as a result the cost of electricity would go up because demand would be high. Not to mention that burning coal isn't exactly clean. Of course there is the argument that we could switch to more nuclear power, but then there is the increased chance of nuclear disaster with each power plant that is added. It costs a ton to maintain a nuclear power plant safely, and we just don't have the kind of money to maintain that many nuclear power plants. So, the truth is that with current technology there is no answer to replacing fossil fuels with anything. We need innovation and lots of it to come close to replacing fossil fuels, and we just don't have enough innovators left in this country.
