Ok, but now you know exactly how to spot bad links and suspicious websites, right? So this is a skill that can be learned.
I say, put the computer in the living room, Teach your damn kid what a red flag for a suspicious link/website looks like, and use firefox/noscript/adblock. Those three things should be enough for 99% of people on the net. Otherwise, she's looking for it.
Huh, I can't believe i've never though of the speed of light aspect of the 6000 YO earth arguement. If the bible were literally true, which they do say, the night sky would be a hell of a lot darker, even giving light that couple day head start before the earth was made:D
I also wonder how much the Input matters. A highly digitized version of a bass drum sound that replaces the dynamic analog version probably doesn't sound as bad compressed, along with cymbals and all other digitized, manipulated current recordings. IIRC, a compression of digital information is cleaner/less noticable than the compression of an analog signal. The 128 Mp3 preference probably comes from a simpler signal that is easier for your ears to process, in such noise-heavy music as Rock.
Fox did the same Episode Shuffle with Dollhouse that was done with Firefly. I heard a critic say that the Bow Hunter episode was originally episode 6, and some of the plot had to be cut out because it involved stuff that hadn't occured yet being the second episode. Also, the very beginning of the series, the motorcycle sequence, was a complete addition by the executives at fox.
But yes, Dollhouse is no Firefly, due to Dr. Dusku's Horrible acting ability, and the fact that the only real "character" is the programmer guy. A blank slate is not a character. /rant
You're getting your numbers confused. The Book Of Mormon says that Jews came over from Israel in 600 bc, became american indians (oops, "new" revlations say that, well, maybe Native Americans AREN'T from Jewish decent, our bad..), fought a lot until about 33 ad, then shortly after jesus died, he came over to america and visited with the indians, then, the different tribes (lamenites, nephites) wiped each other out because they were evil, and buried the Book of their history written on gold (the Book of mormon) in New York.
Ok, if you are going to argue about which invisible fairy is right, at least get your facts straight about Mormons.
To them Jesus was fully divine and fully human during his time on Earth...And Mormons see Jesus as kind of a super-angel now, not the Son of God or God incarnate like mainstream Christians.
No, he's God's special son. In mormon doctrine, everyone is one of god's children, just jesus was the special one who was sent to atone for everybody elses sins. Hell, even lucifer is gods son, he just wanted to force everyone to be good, rather than giving them free choice.
The main difference between "mainstream Christians" (as you call them) and mormons, is that mormons don't believe in the weird Trinity Thing. They see the trinity as 3 separate beings. Most of the other stuff regarding Divinity/godhood is the same. it's like arguing that if you think that Jesus' skin color is other than white, you aren't a christian.
I like to think that a self-regulating body would come about if we abolished the FDA.
Lets take a recent example. How did Mortgage backed investments get so overvalued and rated at AAA status, even though by all accounts they were overvalued and overrated. Oh yeah, it's because the rating agency was unregulated and was Paid based on the rating they gave the investment.
People should have the freedom to use unsafe products if they really want to.
Thanks, you just killed my neice and nephew who are allergic to peanuts. If the peanut recall that spread for weeks and weeks taught us anything, it's that we aren't buying directly from the local guy anymore. Suppliers barely know where their supplies come from, or where their suppliers get their supplies from. Also, without a regulatory agency that is impartial and looking out for the consumer, cost is the only thing that rules. A milk company could use melamine for months, paying off the "self-regulators" until the "good milk" suppliers are driven out of business, because their milk costs more. Then we are left with a cheap substitute for milk that is harmful. I'm simplifying here, but when it comes to Food, I really really appreciate an outside group verifying that my food isn't full of harmful substances.
What I would prefer, is if the Pipes were open pipes. The Recovery package should have included money to buy up all of the laid fiber/cable and open it up to competition.
Here in Utah, Utopia is the open fiber that any ISP can use to give you access, and it works wonderfully. Most fiber is approx $50/month, and if you don't like your provider, you can switch without needing a new wire run to your house. If internet access worked this way, Net Neutrality would be unnecessary, but it doesn't, so it's required so Ma Bell doesn't get any bright ideas about which content it should start filtering.
Has BHO undone anything much of Bush's that benefits you?
Yes, overturned Pharamacists being able to deny me a doctors perscription due to "religious beliefs". Being in a strong Religious community, this is very important to me. My wife would appreciate our birth control perscription now without having to drive to an open minded pharmacist.
Not to mention we're going to get lazy Newspaper editors who glance at the title and write stories about "The Job Market is looking to Return in June, According to Apple!"
Because 10 minute youtube clips are great for watching full tv episodes. I don't have a DVR or pay for a tv service. The only real shows on cable i give a damn about are BSG and The daily show. Within 24 hours of original air date, they are both on hulu at not the best quality, but definately watchable. I don't have to worry about torrent rss feeds or download times or viruses from torrents to watch these shows. The tradeoff being 4 30 seconds or less commercials. I'll be damned if i pay $.99 or $1.99 for an episode of either of these shows though, they just aren't worth that to me. Also, I don't have to deal with individual corporations websites and horrible streaming options (ABC for instance, is a joke, requiring a separate download to view their shows). If you know of a company out there that provides this content for free (without torrents), please, let me know.
There was an article in Newsweek a few weeks back about bugs that had a spiny helmet when a mother encountered a certain predator, and when the mother never encountered that predator, the children did not have the helmet. This is not "lamarkian" evolution at all. The genes had the "code" for displaying one of the two traits already, and the chemicals present in the mother when pregnant (the stress vs. non-stress idea) is all that influences which trait is displayed.
If, however, the same bug had never had such a spiny helmet, and in 1 generation (mother to child) sprouted this spiny helmet after the threat of a head removal by a predator, THAT is what Lamark suggested, which is entirely disproven.
I think what this study potentially shows, rather than questioning the fundementals of Evolution, is that there are hormones that a body produces that influences the plasticity of the brain when exposed to a learning environment, which also seems to influence the development of a child's brain plasticity. Given the knowledge that brain plasticity is a relatively new idea scientifically, such a hormone/chemical is going to be relatively groundbreaking if found/identified.
Wait a minute. What exactly are these states get when they are visited by a presidential cadidate (other than the minor blip in revenue from people traveling to see him). Honestly, do you think a president gets to Idaho, looks around, says "hey, I need to address all of your problems here in Idaho". It's kinda like thinking a rock star means it when he says "I love you, St. Louis!"
Nope, what it means now is that California, New York, Florida, and Texas will pick our president.
By that, I'm sure you mean that people in those states would be picking the pres. As much as you want to deride people in "high population centers", they aren't one monlithic entity. On the other side of your coin, the people in those states votes are worth less than less populated states. Why discount their vote because they live in a high population center.
What it means is that candidates for national office will only campaign in a handful of states that will guarantee a popular majority. No one will ever again campaign in New England, the Midwest, or much of the South.
You've never been out West have you? Outside of california, Presidential candidates hardly ever make it past the Mid-West to campaign. Obama showed up in Utah(!) about a month after announcing he was running (no speech or anything, just an appearance) and McCain did a $100,000 a plate fund raiser here. Other than that, we didn't get jack squat.
Of course, I have a strong dislike for electoral college, since I throw my democratic vote away every year here in UT. it would be nice to know my vote was going for something other than "oh how cute, Democrats reached 15% this year.."
The only thing more mind-numblingly dull than excessive pedantry is being pedantic about the nomenclature of a corporation's operating systems trademark. JEEEEEsus.
Your sources are diverse and correct! Everyone knows Open standards for medical documents is a one way road to Socialism. Just ask anyone on slashdot what open standards does to a buisiness! It's evil, don't touch it! You don't have to read deep into Torvaldis' Das Penguinal to see that communism follows.
Even a "Kindle Lite" would be awesome, if made significantly cheaper. About $129-169 is more in the range where mass adoption begins for something like this. No keyboard, no nifty features, just the nice e-ink screen and some storage space (enough for say, 20-50 books, these files aren't huge) and a way to turn the pages. I would most likely get one for that range, even if it was slightly thicker. Nearly $400 for a way to read books is a toy. Jesus, M$ only charges $199 for an Xbox360, is the kindle really that much more expensive technologically? Is the screen worth so much? Where is the cost coming from, anyone?
No, but I hear there will be an iPhone App for that, as soon as it makes it through the approval process.

I'm sure Konami's Rock Revolution would gladly accept Warner as a partner...

I thought that computers were supposed to be good at math, especially basic counting.

I believe it was actually Dr. Manhattan flying Silk Spectre around. When they passed over, good old Doc blew it off for us.

Yeah, those polio drugs i'm taking every year sure are expensive...
No, and they don't. They've used science as evidence in a ruling. Pay attention.
