Also, (most) people are smart enough to move when their land floods or dries out. The entire population of a geographic area doesn't have to die, most will relocate and/or adapt, as we've always done.

Ah, so food doesn't need water to grow, and crops will pop up even in times of drought.

Funny, I just put mine in my pocket with no problem and I have the Mad Catz clamshell on it which increases the size quite a bit.

You must have massive pockets. I can stick it in my front pocket, only if i'm standing, and if i don't have anything else. My ds on the other hand, will fit comfortably next to my ipod in my front pocket with little interference.

in TFA there is no mention of who is complaining about this, the source is unidentified. I think this is all just part of the marketing.
If Reznor looks like the "eff the RIAA" character, it will only increase his sales of the album. The RIAA is not going to send this to court.
Am I also incorrect in thinking that because this is released on billboard.com (not really a notable 'news' organization), that they are just putting out a press release for the record label?

Entertainment is going to have to come up with SOME way to make money. TiVo has killed tv advertising. People (like me) don't want to pay for something like Television. I wouldn't mind a 2 minute commercial at the beginning of my LOST download if I could get it Legally, As fast (or faster) as i can through other means, and without commercials every 10 minutes.

Sounds like a sustainable formula to me. No DRM though, I want to be able to burn it onto a cd and watch it on my Tele, not just my small computer screen. Encode it in H.264, or DiVX or whatever is high quality.

The reason why this is news, is because the PS3 is lacking in titles as it is. If there were a dirth of titles for the ps3 coming out, then this wouldn't be news, and would be seen as a delay for development time, not waiting for the customer base to grow.

If every company keeps waiting for a customer base, there will never be one.

This game would work online, cross platform (Guitars handled by ps3/x360, and the drums handled by the wii with 2 wiimotes), and would let you write your own songs, and submit them to an online archive. Then, people could use these songs to dance to DDDR3revolutionextreeeem! I hope they get more master tracks. Listening to that Guy do his best Kurt Cobain on "heart shaped box" on GH2 was pretty damn painful. Same with the guy who was singing the RATM song. How about solids state memory, or why not on 5 backup harddrives, if one fails, make a copy of one the other 4...

    3. As long as item 1 is handled by ever increasing storage capacities, it's not an issue. However, redundancy doesn't stop at 2 (hd -> CD). It's better to have a long term solution like magnetic tapes (or other) imo.
The problem with analog signals is the same as digital, deterioration over time. Look at the old Woodie guthrie recording of "this land is your land". Some parts are barely intelligible because of the analog recording they were made on.

I bet if we had those on original hard drives, we probably would be checking the stability of those hard drives and backing them up whenever possible, which isn't possible with analog to get a perfect copy.
