Why all the fuzz, you know stuff like this can happen during a nascar race, it's also the reason why a lot of people like nascar.. yes it's a sad that a few fans got hurt, but making such a fuzz about it is stupid..
And yet readability, maintainability, reusability en efficiency (well the latter is complete bollocks these days) are still all concepts which are in the eye of the beholder, especially readability.. One of the new(ish) things for C# for instance is lambda expressions, well, I've seen people almost only using lambda expressions even though in most cases a regular function (because a lambda expression is nothing more than a function without a name IMHO) would be much better for readability (and certainly reusability).. As I said, it's all in the eye of the beholder and what you're used to.. And as other people said, I've seen people write crap in ANY language and some of them even follow rules and still it looks like crap.. What may look like excellent structured form to you, may look like spageti to someonelse...
good/bad writing code is all in the eye of the beholder...... What you call good code can look like utter crap to another developer, and ofcourse the opposite is true too... There is no right and there is no wrong...
as when I try to open a youtube movie on my android tablet in chrome, it says it requires the latest flash player to be installed... hmmmm.. not so great without flash then.....
And how do you know it hasn't been tested in a vacuum chamber?
Also, some scientists are too rigid in their thinking and are only thinking that previous theories are solid and correct, even though history has seen so many thought to be solid theories be not so correct at all.. there are still so many things unexplained, and might not even be explained if scientists stick to the 'old' theories.. Once there was this theory that the earth was flat, and if you thought otherwise you were deemed a charlatant (hmmm you see a resemblance these days if someone comes up with something that doesn't follow the rules set up by newton or einstein), and now we all know better... That is just what these relativity theories for example are 'THEORIES', even einstein said that it might be wrong but at the moment it's the best we've got.. but a lot of so called scientists can't seem to think outside that box, and therefore won't be able to solve a lot of problems... Just like the laws of physics, people thought those up, and people have been known to be wrong a lot of times...
it's that simple.. Yes Windows 8 is an terrific OS for tablets, I won't argue that, but for desktop it's just crap.. Why would I want to limit myself to only one screen? Or why would I have to use the small scrollbar on the bottom of the startscreen to scroll left and right with the mouse, even there is soo much unused space around the tiles for the mouse to use (you can use it with your finger, so why not your mouse).. Why use so much space for showing the data as large blobs, it's a complete waste of resolution. In a lot of examples they show for Windows 8 store apps you see the old way and the metro way, but with the old way I see much more data.. And why the removal of aero, let people who want to have al the bling bling, have their bling bling, as even with windows 7 you can get the bland look of windows 8 'legacy' applications by turning it off, at least with windows 7 you have a choice... Who cares if it uses a little bit more resources, it didn't seem to care with previous windows version's when resources where even more scarce, why would I even care on a desktop PC about batterylife... Hell even on my laptop I really don't care most of the time.. Nah, all Windows 8 is about is trying to get the mentally distorted taste of MS designers stuffed down our throaths..
Countries are blocking Iran and North Korea from trying to create weaponsgrade uranium/plutonium, but the UK, the US and some other countries are still producing it themselves... who are they to judge Iran and NK for trying to do the same... (Not that I like them to have it, but hee, if you say to someoneelse "you're not allowed to create something" then you aren't allow it yourself IMHO, otherwise it's just a big hypocritic fingerpointing)...
As I keep saying, as long as the US is still testing, creating and updating their nuclear arsenal, ANY other country has it's right to test and create their own, even if the country seems to be a 'villainstate'.. It doesn't mean I like it, but the US should shut their mouths as long as they have theirs and keep threatening other countries..
The biggest problem is.... what is good code..... It's all in the eye of the beholder, and I've seen it so many times, that what one programmer calls good code, another calls big crap, and vice versa..
When is something good code? NO THAT DOESN'T MEAN FOLLOWING SOME RULES YOU'VE READ IN A POPULAR BOOK ON CODING....
I don't see why they want to create another handheld device, we already have great opensource handheld devices called Android-devices... and let's not forget iOS and Windows phone..
If it's got only Wifi then it's unusable IMHO, it also needs at least a wired connection.. Too many homes have very poor wifi connection due to being in a wifi overpopulated neighbourhood or just bad position of the wifi-router... I for only use wifi for portable devices, not devices which are stationary.
haha, that's a genious plan, if you really come to think about it, it isn't really a scam.. He's contracted for doing the job, and he get's the job done (on time), how he does it really doesn't matter.. You can compare it to letting your IDE do some work (like refactoring), only in this case he doesn't let the IDE do it for him, he let someonelse do it for him.. It's just like a lot of other sectors where one hires a contractor to do a job, and the contractor hires other people to do the job for him.. damn why haven't I though of this. LOL..
No it cannot set a precedence for file-sharing, because other judges already set a precedence for that, so it's rather weird why this judge ruled like he did.. Looking at this, it makes clear that precedence doesn't have any real value...
Java may have it's security-problems, but it's not like it's the only framework/language that has it's problems.. You must be very naive to think that other languages/frameworks don't have the same kind of security-problems as java does. There is no such thing as complete secure, and there never will be...
They shouldn't build a filter, they should 'learn' him when it's appropriate to use it and when not.. LOL.. and we don't know if the 'bullshit' answer was legit or not, as they never told us what was asked...
Good and bad code is all in the eye of the beholder.. what looks like great code to you can look like utter crap to another.. There are so many ways to do code, and also there are so many different views on what's good practice and what not.. Yes stuffing everything in one big function which spans multiple pages normally isn't considered good practice, but splitting every single thing up into separate functions is also not good. Also some people think using lambda expressions is great, others just think it makes it unreadable and you should just put it in a separate function (in the end, a lambda expression is nothing more than a function without a name).. Just like declarations, some swear by hungarian notation, other actually swear at it (to me it all depends on what programming language you are using).
In most cases just talking to each other and explaining why a specific way might be better is the way to go, maybe the other person than explains why their way which after explaining makes sense to you.. As I said everybody has different views on what constitudes to bad/good code.. If you want to force your way of development on others in a company than you should have a document in place which tells exactly how to do some stuff.. I for one always say, at least comment your code as good as possible, as even having great descriptive variables doesn't mean the code is readable.. and a person once told me: 'well good written code explains itself' I responded with 'well bad written code also explains itself, because the compiler can understand it so it must be good written code'...
BS, Windows phone does support standard protocols, but not the ones Linux or BSD support..
And OH MY GOD do they really have a locked bootloader? So is Apple and they're even more restricting their devices, and so a lot of android phone suppliers..
Why is it always they bitch about MS for locking up their OS, but never about Apple which has a much stricter policy..
And why not run linux on a phone that can run it, it's not like a windows phone is something unique.. oh and ofcourse you can crack the bootloader just like with all other suppliers..
Yeah and the storybook tells that the big bad wolf talks to little red hiding hood, have you ever heard a wolf speak? Comeon, the bible is nothing more than another storybook, if you believe any different than you're very naive.. Also in our version there was no reference to feet, yards cubics and furlow's, so it all depends on which version of the bible you read...
But as said here, it's the windows x86 DESKTOP where they have/had a dominant market, NOT ARM based devices, and let's not forget, Windows RT is NOT!!! regular Windows, you cannot run ANY regular windows application.. Windows RT is to Windows what iOS is to MacOSX.. Just like Windows Phone 7/8 is an OS for the phones and MS doesn't have a dominant market share, it also doesn't have a dominant (hell they don't even have a) market share on ARM tablets.. It might be a different story if you could run all your 'regular' windows applications on the Surface, but you can't.. And don't make any mistakes, Apple is even more evil (or at least they were under the reign of Jobs) as it seems they can get away with anything whereas MS has to follow some rules from long past.. If you can't install linux on a surface then just don't buy a surface, enough other tablets on the market which are able to install other Osses.. As Other people also said, you can't install Linux on an iPad (and in the market for tablets, Apple has a very large market share). In the end, people will find a way to install linux on the surface..
ohno, there are some pictures of naked people doing some nasty stuff on a pre-owned 3DS.. oh yeah, blame it on the shop and put it on the news so you can have your 15-minutes of fame.. I'm sorry but this is just ridiculous that such a thing becomes 'world'news.. Why didn't the parents who bought the used 3ds check it themselves if it worked before giving it to the child, they knew they were buying a used 3ds.. Yes it might be the shop's responsibility of 'cleaning' the pre-owned device, but is it really? do they claim they wiped the device? all they need to do is check if the device is working properly.. To me this is just blowing everyting out of proportions.. pffff.. making a fuzz about some pre-owned 3DS with some porn on it while they give other children weapons.. Next time please make sure it's actually something to write about...
cloning a child doesn't bring the child back, it only brings back a DNA copy, but not the same person (unless they invent something like the 'syncorder' as used in the movie 'the 6th day'). Well, if it's ethical is another matter, as something deemed ethical is always in the eye of the beholder.. personally being able to just buy a new body and keep living on doesn't seem like a bad idea to me.. And what's the difference in cloning an animal or a person, to me there isn't as we too are just animals..
what are 'reasonable' prices? In my opinion the prices the ISP asks aren't reasonable themselves, but that's just my OPINION, they have the right to ask anything they want as it's their product.. Just like content is the product of those entertainmentcompanies, they created/put up the money so they can decide what prices are asked, not some moron who thinks he can put his will onto others.. Clearly people are interested in the content otherwise they wouldn't consume them, but remember, all content is still just a luxury product, if you think the price is too high, then leave it be, but don't go 'stealing' it. You can always wait until it's a more reasonable price or on the radio/tv.. and in this case, the ISP is just a big hypocrit, as they profit from all the need for content, because without that content most people didn't really need such speedy connections..
Why is a third party who is not related to wikileaks even able to press charges against companies who provide a service to someoneelse (or in this case, won't provide). Also you have to remember those companies are american companies and have to follow american laws, wikileak is publishing illegal documents which makes it a federal offence if the companies would keep providing the service.. Also, wikileaks isn't the 'robin-hood' website many believe, it also has it's own agenda which is far from friendly and without own interest... All most people care about is the 'tabloid'newsfactor of wikileaks and don't care at all about the people who might get hurt (with that I mean physically) by the publishing the documents.. Also the don't tell the real story (as seen with the originally edited chopper video, which if you've seen the whole video gives a rather completely different view on the matter, but Wikileaks chose to only show these moments to get the attention).. And if you people really think that wikileaks ammounts to any change in the world, please get real, don't be as naive as you seem to be...
