What a load of crap! He is NOT a victim, he is a criminal and a beast for taking the lives of his family. This was a selfish and senseless act that can NOT be justified what-so-ever.

I would have been completely OK with that. The lack of WMD evidence has never bothered or concerned me... seeing planes flown into the WTC and knowing that my good friend died while working at Sandler O'Neill on the 104th floor of Tower 2 was enough fucking 'evidence' I needed to know these terrorist MUST be stopped.

I agree that the Clinton years were fairly benign. Although a bit off-topic, I see this year's convention headed on the same track as '68. There is even a radical anti-war group 'Recreate 68' trying to get permits for the Denver convention... should be entertaining at the very least.

Maybe, maybe not. But remember that the vast majority of Americans are of Judeo-Christian faith. Israel, specifically Jerusalem, is the center of all three Abrahamic faiths. Israel represents both a strategic ally in the Middle East and the religious homeland for many US citizens. This religious war dates back thousands of years and IMO will continue beyond our lifespan. Just visit Jerusalem one day and look at the many various layers/foundations/architecture that make up the outer wall and buildings - not to mention the bullet pock-marked south gate from the last Arab Israeli war. It doesn't help that Iran and other Arabic countries have openly claimed that Israel, a sovereign nation, should be wiped off the face of the earth.

IMO, investing in large-scale military initiatives (oversized subs, bombs, aircraft, etc) is an antiquated strategy. Clearly Russia still has their head up their arse and is resistant to change. If anything, this recent display of 'power' is more a sign of ignorance. The new world war is on terrorism and we are fighting a smaller, more agile and elusive enemy. The FOAB is completely impractical for modern warfare. Smaller is better. It is very easy to spout-off some ridiculously false, knee-jerk reactive comment based on ones bias towards the subject matter.

It doesn't take a long time to realize the MO for most Slashdotters is to make short, snide, sarcastic comments that feed the pluralistic view here that all things government, military, conservative, Microsoft, law enforcement, etc are quintessentially evil. I don't expect this to ever change.

Honestly, reading threads like this is the entire point of Slashdot and the reason I come here everyday - multiple times - to read what others have to say. Calling out a misinformed posting helps expose the truth and provides balance.
