Just what we need! Another story about Obama's BlackBerry.
No doubt I'll be modded Troll for stating that this topic has been covered to death. ENOUGH!
It was pretty obvious it was a Windows-Only open source site.. if you want all-platform open source, I don't see why you wouldn't think of source-forge first anyway?

How else could an article about an unsupported platform by one party turn into a bashing of a candidate of another party. The ability of the human mind to abstract information is astounding!
It's OK Boys, I'm just trolling now. I legitimately hate Perl for all the reasons I specified, but you like the stuff you like, and I'll like my stuff and we'll all be fine.
No, I'm complaining about AMBIGUOUS names. For a group of "smart people" you guys don't read very well.
I don't need them to BeLongAndSpecifyEveryPartOfTheFuncationaly(). I want them to be descriptive and unambiguous. "Chomp" (as an example) does not tell me what it does. "CleanStream" or "TrimCRLF" or something similar is unambiguous and short.
Once again. Read the definition of ambiguous. If you can't tell what it does clearly by the function name it is ambiguous. I was using Chomp as an easily identifiable example, but I'm happy to go to the perl docs and drag out 5 more ambiguous methods.
As head of the board of the Space Review Board, the head of the Treasury and the head of the department of combustion, he should have no difficulty raising this money, or a week later, not.
You don't know the half of it. Sydney trains are the pits! Their timetable really is pure fiction.
Agreed! The editors should be editing. Failing that, there must be plenty of editors who would like a chance to do their job.

I think Slashdot has been trying for another record: "Number of Stories about Obama's Blackberry".
Thankfully this story isn't about his Blackberry!

I so COMPLETELY agree. What a waste of bytes!
...and who is responsible when the magnet driven bus doesn't detect a cyclist between it and the curb?
As long as it can access Goatse and 2Girls1Cup.. it accesses all I ever need to see.
They weren't intelligent enough to outlive Homo sapien!! Huzzah for us and our bad-ass ancestors!
I've got a fuel cell in my car. I call it the "gas tank".
What is sad about this is some security-cleared development company probably charged $20 million to make it.

Hi.. I'm a Slashdot reader and I either LOVE anything by Neal, or I don't understand what the fuss is about. 50/50 split. I called it.

So where is the person to jump up and defend that it doesn't have vaguely defined variables. There is a nice Score of 2 for you if you do!

Hey! I'M a creepy mexican! It's awesome that I'm bringing down soccer moms.

ambiguous: open to or having several possible meanings or interpretations
Either you don't know what ambiguous means or you only know the word chomp to mean "Remove trailing CR/LF"... in which case I recommend RTFDictionary.
I hate most programming languages with weak types, vaguely defined variables and ambiguous functions like "chomp"
I'm starting to notice that kdawson keeps appearing as the editor of factually inaccurate inflammatory articles.
I unfortunately installed Vista. I think i'm goign to roll-back to XP. I feel like I bought Windows ME!

Slashdot would upgrade to Celcius but it'd cost them 8 Shillings and twelvepence to upgrade their Internometer.
Maybe you and I are watching a different BBC...
