Close to 10 percent aren't from Mexico, creating serious homeland security concerns. SEN. JON KYL (R), ARIZONA: We're concerned about terrorists coming across the border because of the huge increases in other than Mexicans, people coming from abroad through Mexico, across our southern border. We know that al Qaeda specifically desires to bring people across this border.

Please see the if I remember correctly.. Unfortunatley I read so much crap I can become confused on where I'm quoting from, my bad. However, it may have been something local as I live relatively close to the California\Mexican border. I can also tell you asshole, that I was stationed at Fort Huachuca, AZ for awhile and I know with some relative confidence what the Army, DOD, OHS, Coast Guard among many others were looking for coming in from the Mexican\Arizona, Texas, Louisianna and California border and why some information is withheld from the public. Some reasons are a little silly and there should be more trust that the American people can know more than what they are given credit for however there are also some good reasons\logic on why other information is not shared. It's been several years since I was meagerly involved however the facts of what WAS relative then hasn't changed I'm sure. The concern is real and anyone that thinks people from Middle eastern decent wouldn't have an easier time posing as a Mexican national as opposed to a Canadian eh.. are apparently blind. They may not be Al Qaeda, maybe their hezbollah, Syrian, taliban; regardless they are not stoopid people, maybe ignorant but they tend to take the path of least resistance and that would be one. YES, there are known cases of them backpacking through the woods of Canada and coming into Wyoming and Minesotta and I wasn't denying or arguing that, only the fact that it's easier to come in through the South, ask any of the 1+ Million illegals in California or Carols Mencia. Get a clue and get a life, I love to argue valid points so please try again.

Just like the AOL account I had a few years ago that was free for the first 90 days. Tried canceling the service after 45 and they still got 15 bucks out of me by the time I was finally able to get them to cancel the account. IMHO, AOL's "recent" track record with badware, giving out search results etc.. etc.. is nothing new. Their business model is not about their customers it's about the buck and there is no way I will ever give them another one. I will give them credit for being one of the pioneers of the Internets growth and being one of the first access portals for the masses, other than that they should have stayed in the 80's/90's which is how many millions of dollars they are going to milk out of the poor netziens out there.

  7. To little too late on 17 Web Based Competitors to MS Office · · Score: 1

First of all there was a time when a few companies had word processing, spread sheet and other "office" software that was competing with Microsoft. They either did not market their products well enough or those products did not offer the funcitonality and/or compatability of the MS Office suite and for the most part fell by the wayside. MS was not the leader in "office" type software, I know I had to use the other crap when I was in the Army and was relatively greatful to see some of the other products ditched (Although I will always have a soft spot for Word Perfect). MS came in strong and with what was at the time a far more superior product that what anyone else was offering as an entire suite that could work relatively well with each other and unfortunately for everyone else now hold the same kind of stranglehold over the market as their OS's do. Now, it's just like the OS market; there will always be a product that will cut into the market share of a company like Microsoft; hell when you have 85/90%+ of any particular market it's a lot easier to lose ground than gain it at that point. MS Office has entrenched itself so deep into the commercial, personal and government sectors so thoroughly that it will be quite sometime before they are no longer reign supreme. To prove my point, as most of you /.'s probably read as I did. When Pluto was reclassified and they decided upon using "Pluton" as a naming convention geologists were upset because that term is already used. But "IAU head Owen Gingerich is quoted as saying that he was only peripherally aware of the definition, and because it didn't show up on MS Word's spell check, he didn't think it was that important." I kind of rest my case on that note.

There is a difference between what the mulsims did and anti-semitism although it may be a fine line to walk. Anti-sematism would entail the conversion or killing of only those of jewish faith; as you stated they did the same to christians as well. I'm sure there is a term to describe this albeit it escapes me right now; anyway Jews were not specifically targeted all religions outside of the Qurans teachings are what was targeted. You can bet that Anti-sematic views however did begin developing not long after Jesus would have been nailed up on a cross, IMHO anyway.

Hell of a post man, for the most part I whole heartedly agree with you; just this one point I do want to clarify. Al Qaeda has and is known to have come into the U.S. under the guise of Mexican migrant workers trying to come in just to make a buck. There has been at least one instance where a smuggler took the money from two men, brought them into the U.S. but it became obvious when neither of them spoke any spanish that they we're not one of our friends from south of the border but from far, far east of the border. If I remember correctly, the 9/11 commission report also states that a few of the 20 hijackers also came in from Mexico posing as mexican aliens.

It was interesting to see you post this here.. kind of caught me by suprise to be honest. I was diagnosed with Chrons almost 2 years ago when I went into the hospital for what I thought was going to be having my appendix removed. Woke up the next day to find out 7 inches of my small intestine had been removed right above my colon. I have a moderate case and honestly don't take as much care of it as I should outside of taking the one medication they have me on. I do have to frequent the bathroom anywhere from 5-15 times in a day and can feel you when you say it's sometimes just easier not to eat. According to my gastro doc, malnutrition is one of the biggest obstacles to deal with involving crohns patients. To stay slightly on topic, I don't know or think in my particular case that an automated butt cleaning toilet would help... Although, a gentle water cleansing might be a little nicer as opposed to what can sometimes feel like a worn out, calloused, sore butt0. Anyway, good luck with everything in dealing with this as I know I need a little luck to get through almost everyday.

You should put the crack pipe down and look at a newpaper or any number of slashdot articles that do bring to light all of MS indescresions and faults. I'm willing to wager MS has had more bad PR in the news during the last decade than any other organization in history. Windows is better than Linux! Get over it. I don't work for MS but I am a realist, MS has no more bugs (for the most part) than any other software developer's product. Let Linux as a whole piss off the tech savy community and I'm sure we would see numerous ways to exploit that OS as well.
