A decent AI-algorithm is there to reduce the search space. Even a human player must do quite a bit of searching, but we're usually better at culling. So the algorithm may have reduced the time to find a move from 10^$insane to 2^$less_insane. Both those are big numbers, but one of them can be done right now with available computing power. And who knows, in two decades that kind of power might be available inside talking dolls.
Set some goals. For instance, tell yourself you want to work up to 500m, or 10 laps in the pool, without rest. Don't worry that you can only do one or two right away. Shoot for 5k run, and again, don't worry if all you can do is alternatively walk for 5 minutes and run for 1 minute. Pretty soon you'll adapt, be eating like ten people, and feeling dead tired all the time. That, too, will pass =)
Oh, and try to push yourself in other ways. I'm an introvert too, but the benefits of having a workout partner can't be overstated. Barring that, start a work-out journal and document your progress, even if the entries read "Too lazy to go out in the rain." =)
Yes, the units do not make sense. Mass is more likely to be measured in inverse minutes. So take your mass in kg, multiply by c^2, which will give you your energy equivalent. Now divide by Planck's constant, which will give you the frequency equivalence of that energy. Multiply by 60 to get the rate in inverse minutes.
Sticking to standard units, I have a mass of 1.017e52 Hz.
Hope that helps.
It's a good idea to quickly build up a credit history (we came from SA, I don't know if it works differently if you come from Au). Meaning, in the first few months while you're here, don't buy your fridge/stove/TV with cash but instead on credit card, and then promptly pay it off so you don't get nailed with interest. Otherwise banks won't touch you for things like mortgages no mater how much you earn (unless 15% interest is your thing).
Also, remember to get a Presidents Choice debit card and master card. You'll understand when you get here. Taste the "free as in beer".
You probably can't distinguish the two colours placed side by side, but consider the following *Bill Nye voice*: With larger displays and larger resolutions, pure gradients suffer from banding quite quickly, and you need to resort to dithering and the like to make images acceptable. 256 shades of gray look pretty awful on a 1920 pixel display.
To say that a Taser didn't *contribute* to the deaths is probably wrong. To say that a Taser *caused* the deaths is almost certainly wrong. then
During the shot, the Taser causes you to literally scream out all the air in your body in about two seconds.... In someone full of drugs or with pre-existing medical problems, this can definitely pose a risk. Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer.
I think some people might disagree with your apparent definition of "cause". A friend of mine used to quip that death is usually "caused" by the heart ceasing to pump. I think if you knowingly spike someone with a heart condition's beverage with lots of salt and caffeine, precipitating death, there's probably murder, manslaughter, or 'criminal negligence causing death' waiting for you, even though the pre-existing heart condition was the "cause" here.
As for the torture thing. What about incidents where the device is used multiple times for no apparent reason (or, apparently, "look, he's still moving. Tase him!")? That smells of torture, or at least cruelty/brutality.

AFAIK the aluminum layer is where the data is kept. DVDs have the layer sandwiched between plastic, but CDs unfortunately do not.

You're doing it wrong.
On sale? Those are some pretty high standards. You clearly don't belong here =p

I think google means 'subject' like, an artist or photographer's 'subject', rather than say, math, history or entomology.

What a bad pun =]
step 4 throw back out shoveling driveway and wipe out on black ice while checking your mail =)

It reads "Use only Genuine Interocitor Parts". Seems gibberish to me.

I immediately had thoughts of the "Land of upp".
I think they mean the Coefficient of Performance: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coefficient_of_performance That gives you about a 28 degree difference.
I read that as "Where are my aids? I want AIDS!!!" Maybe I've just seen too much advertising lately.
Yes, but your average radio is not coherent nor collimated...
And if we were able to measure the effects due to quasars, (gravitational radiation?) that would be a scientific breakthrough in itself.
The money is on page 69 of the pdf. That is to say, a fairly convincing graph of lead consumption and behaviour.
It seems like what is commonly called Weber's Theorem has nothing to do with PDEs.. care to elaborate?
I spend a good deal of time in Newfoundland, and I misread the title the same way!
I don't think C++ compilers compile to C anymore... I know Borland's TPC did this, but that was back when C++ was built on top of C.
