Ah yes Primer. I was waiting for that one to be mentioned. An excellent movie in my opinion.

For some reason, low budget movies seem to more consistently captivate my mind than the big bucks hollywood blockbusters. I figure the reason would be less flash, and more content. A movie with an intriguing, well developed idea/plot consistently outpaces flash and smash. Throw in a few good looking girl next door girls, some mudwrestling, cheap music... Oh wait... Tits and Ass always work too!

Now that is a good post, made me chuckle. Seriously, I found that the time I spent setting up my mythbox to be alot more interesting than if the time was spent watching TV. Now that the MythTV box is setup and running smooth with all of my tweaks, it just sits there and records shows, which I find I don't watch anyways. It was the adventure of setting up the box, both hardware and software wise, and making it as quiet as possible (which the wife and myself greatly appreciate) that was the fun part. Watch TV? Meh. I'd rather fiddle.

This reminds me of a time when I asked a "teacher" the reason for the phases of the moon. He said it was because of the earth's shadow. This is what he taught in his classes about 20 years ago. I wonder how the infrastructure and mechanisms in place would stand up to severe weather (however, the larger the waves, the more power generated) and located in the ocean, salt water. Corrosion of moving parts (bearings) would be a huge issue in my opinion. Design, Construction and Material costs would probably be higher as a result. However, if this design proves to be cheap, robust and effective, this technology could go far.

I must be the odd one out here. Procrastination for me does not result in me getting down. If I dwell on the idea that I "should" be doing something (like whitening my teeth, buying an iPod, or watching TV), well then of course I will get depressed. Actually, now that I think about it, if I were to be concerned with filling my time by watching TV, buying an iPod, and whitening my teeth I would be depressed.

Kind of off topic, or maybe not. I couldn't help notice that a tracking feature is contained within the last two cell phones I've uesd. A feature called "assisted GPS" seems to mysteriously and unobtrusively be enabled by default from the factory. From what I understand, this location tracking feature is in addition to tracking one's location via cell tower triangulation.

Scary thing about this is that the vast majority of the people I talk to do not even know this feature is available, less enabled by default.

Helium, on the other hand, once contained within a sealed bladder type system will not require any active means of interaction to achieve bouyancy. Height would most likely be regulated by pressure of the helium within the enclosed bladder.

There are too many ways to overcome this one. Just setting the system clock back on one's computer, or setting up a tweaked NTP time server if the time bombed document is advanced enough to query the server (which I highly doubt). Accessing the document via alternate application, mounting partition from within another OS, etc...

Whatever type of DRM scheme is used, it's just a matter of time and it'll be compromised...
