You're not alone. I mostly like science fiction. Star Trek, BSG, Firefly yes. Star Wars no. And LOTR and Hobbit did not do anything for me. But, Game of Thrones is in another league. I love Game of Thrones. For me, it is as good as the hype suggests it is. I was surprised by that.

Watch first first season of Game of Thrones and then come back and give us your feedback here. I am interested in finding out if your opinion changes.

I don't think there are many legitimate cases where it did not work out. People who had junk insurance (insurance where you pay money but get nothing of value) had to drop it. Sure. I'll give you that.

In my particular case, I was denied insurance. And I did not even have any existing conditions. I went 8 years without insurance or having to see a doctor. I guess I saved some money. But now they can no longer deny me insurance. I fail to see Obamacare as a bad thing.

This is all about getting some good press for himself and possibly the Dems in general, and bad press for the Reps coming in next month who'll actually have to vote on this bill. "See?!? WE wanted to fix this horrible thing, but those EEEEVVIIILLL Republicans stopped us!!!!!!"

Honest question. Why would Republicans not support this bill?

Be a terrible shame if there were enough Tea Party types (or sympathizers, at least) in the Senate next year to actually approve this bill and make it law....

Last time I checked, tea partiers were all Republicans.

"Actually. Most conservatives understood intuitively that you could not add tons of poor to insurance roles and cover all pre existing conditions without raising prices heavily on the healthy."

I think you are forgetting a few things. ACA increases the insured pool by mandating that everybody get insurance. That certainly helps offset the increased cost of insuring people with pre-existing conditions.

On a side note, I was denied insurance before, because on the application form I could not tell them when I had last seen a doctor. I haven't in probably 15 years or more. They came back with a quick rejection. With ACA I was able to get insurance. Now they get easy few hundred dollars from me every month. I still have not seen a doctor. Don't need to.

I personally have owned several ARM based Android tablets and recently bought an Intel Atom based 7" ASUS Android tablet for my kid on sale for about $100. For that kind of money, I was not expecting much, but have been pleasantly surprised at how fast it is. It is as fast, if not faster than most modern Android tablets. And it lasts just as long as my Nexus 7. I was not expecting Intel to have achieve parity at this time. But they have. If they are able to offer a solution that is a little more performant while using less power than the ARM chips, I think they can succeed.

People have shown willingness to spend money on high end phones and tablets. I currently own a Samsung Galaxy S5. A $700 device. Do I wish it was a little faster and lasted a little longer? You bet! There is a lot of room to improve the mobile experience. At the pace that Intel has been developing their mobile solution, I think they can and will succeed in this space.

I agree with others. I cannot recall reading any story on Slashdot that made less sense.

Additionally I have never understood the point of cell phone insurance. The phones do not cost that much. Just insure it yourself. If you lose it or damage it, buy another one. In the end, you'll come out ahead. Insurance companies understand this, so should you. Only stupid people pay for phone insurance.

Also, if you cannot live without a phone for a day or so, then keep an old phone around for emergencies. If you do not have one, get one off of Craiglist or eBay. Plenty of really decent options for $50, for a backup phone. With T-Mobile and AT&T, you can swap out the SIM and you're ready to go. With Verizon and Sprint, you have to go a web page to register your new phone. Done.

Lastly, I know other people have said it, but it is worth repeating. Don't be so damn stupid!
