Of course it does. If you will scroll back, you will see all kinds of posts discussing why, and why not, the modem hacker had or had no right to do as he did.

The "NEVER say anything to the cops" thing is a little oversimplified, though. E.g.: If someone shoots my mom, you can be DAMNED sure I'm going to talk to them.

Yep. I got burned by that issue. Power supply went out on my Dell, I went and got an off-the-shelf power supply. Same connector, but when I powered it up... nothing but the smell of ozone, and it fried something, because it never did work again.

I needed a new machine fast, so I found a happy medium. Got a Velocity Micro box from Best Buy. Velocity specializes in high-end rigs, but sells mid-range machines to Best Buy. They use nothing but "off the shelf" quality parts, and the end result is a very nice machine with easily upgradable/replacable parts that has most of the benefits of a custom built rig without having to do it yourself. Beautiful aluminum case with a window on the side, blue illumination inside, and although the cabling is not fine art, it approaches origami for just slightly more than the Dells and such.

And with a "first page out" time of under 9 seconds, it has me spoiled and annoyed when I have to wait minutes for one of the laserjets at work to warm up.

That's an interesting idea. But I still think that would be illegal.

In the United States, cell-phone jamming is covered under the Communications Act of 1934, which prohibits people from "willfully or maliciously interfering with the radio communications of any station licensed or authorized" to operate.

Your idea would interfere with the attempt by a "station" (the cell phone users) to do something they are authorized to do (e.g. send a text message).

But it was a novel idea.
