    If a system is working properly, then applying updates cannot make it better. It can leave it the same or make it worse. I Install my servers and leave them alone for about 3 years, then re-install and run them for another 3 years, then I toss them away and install new ones. Most Linux prolems are caused by finger trouble, so a security problem has to be very serious before I would apply it.

    Not quite true. There are many single cellular parasites too. For example malaria and tick fever. Antibodies and antibiotics can fight them.

    You can edit PDFs and paste text onto forms with the Gimp. Kinda painful, but it works and then you can save the file in any format you want.
