    Exactly. The thing is encrypted. You can boot it various ways, but without the password, it remains encrypted.

    Meteosat doesn't really map the earth surface, it maps the cloud surface, 16 times a day.

    Anyone who ever ran his own mail server would have noticed that spam and malware attacks follow the US work week and public holidays. So the simple fact is that most of these 'Russian' hackers are living in the USA.

    You already leave your fingerprints everywhere you go, including all over your phone. So using a print scanner only inconveniences an honest user and does nothing to stop a determined criminal.

    Exactly. It is simple Economics 101. Increasing productivity and efficiency destroys jobs. Therefore, decreasing productivity and efficiency create jobs. All Trump has to do is dump the most egregious parts of the free trade agreements and production and jobs will immediately come back to the USA. That is why Asia is so upset. They know that when the trade barriers go a little higher, their sales go down by a lot.

    Comey is quite correct actually. The USA is very large, with thousands of voting stations. Compromising one or two machines may be easy, but compromising thousands, not. Maybe you should come out for fresh air more often for a reality check.

    Nope - I have a Thinkpad too. Not a bad machine, but not the same quality as my Macbook Pro and the Thinkpad looks tired and twice as old.

    "I still have my 2006 Macbook Pro and apart from the battery it's almost like new, after all these years": That is the reason I buy Macbooks. Yes they cost a little more, but I tend to keep them twice as long as a cheaper machine and even at end of life, it still looks and works exactly the same as the day I bought it. It is better quality and better value for money in the long run.

    BTW, you can see the ancient beaches on the mountain profile from Kleinmond, looking towards Hermanus. All the Cape mountains, including Table Mountain was under the sea long ago and hefted up.
