That would be more of a description of an agnostic. Atheists believe in a lack of supreme being, without any prove that that being doesn't exist.

It's impossible to prove that something doesn't exist. If I say there an Invisible Pink Unicorn (May HER Hooves Never be Shod) in my back yard, who's to disprove me? The "burden of proof" lies with those positing the existence of god. Just because my examination of the world has not led me to assume the existence of god> doesn't mean that I beleive in the nonexistence of god in the same way that a Christian believes in his existence. I hold my view of the world because it fits with observations. That's all. My beleifs are different from a theist's because mine are subject to reality.

    Agnostics are just ashamed atheists.

I agree, but the problem is that science is constantly proving (or at least putting beyond reasonable doubt) things that were once thought to be the exclusive domain of gods. Wind was thought to be the breath of a god. , but science came up with a reasonable explanation. Lightning took much longer, but it eventually fell to the constant march of rational discovery. Science now has an explanation for the origin of the universe; why should it be any different?

Let me remind you that no console add-on, ever, has been a commercial success. That is why Nintendo did not release the Wiimote as the add-on it was initially planned as. The use of the Wiimote as the center of the console is the genius of Nintendo's strategy

The Wii has unimpressive graphics. Its only selling point is its controller. The quality of a Wii game lies in its fun-factor, which is directly tied to its use of the controller. Sure, the classic/Gamecube controllers are compatible, but there would really be no point in making a game like that for the Wii; you could make graphically superior version for the PS3 or the 360. Nintendo's actions with the Wii are effectively forcing developers to use the Wiimote in new and inventive ways, something that a simple add-on to the 360 or PS3 could never do.

Ubuntu implicitly asks for developers, just as most other Linux distros do. When Mark explicitly asks for developers on the OpenSUSE mailing list, he is making a statement against the Microsoft-Novell alliance. There's nothing wrong with that, but it should be stated openly, not insinuated in a mailing list post.

The idea of inviting developers to jump ship is too... un-Linuxy. OSS in general is not about getting the most developers, nor is it about sucking projects dry when they make an alliance with the heart of all computing evil. OSS is about choice. If developers are really unhappy with the alliance, they will jump ship themselves.

As other users have pointed out, Opera still not free for non-PCs devices, like cell phones (and the DS); that's where the company makes its money.

The news, as I see it, is neutral; it could have been better (Opera free forever), and it could have been worse (Opera pay from the beginning). I'm not sure it's a good thing for Nintendo, though (assuming that everyone will have to pay net year, even those that have been using it free).

Cut Mario 64 some slack; it may not fare well when held up to today's games, but you have to consider it's position. Nintendo didn't have a history of 3D gaming to draw upon; they had to figure out how a 3D platformer would control; they had to define how to control a free-moving camera. Most of our superior modern games are drawing on Mario 64, and they improve it. It may not be the best game ever, but it was one of the most revolutionary and influential.

I doubt Nintendo would let any of their games, least of all Zelda, ship with controls that were in any way bad. I can honestly say that I have never played a Nintendo game with BAD controls. The Wiimote controls weren't simply tacked on in the last few weeks before release; Nintendo has been working for months on adding the Wiimote (I doubt there was much more development of the main game), and the quality of the controls really matters. Zelda, as a Wii launch title, will one of people's first experiences with the Wiimote, and I doubt Nintendo will let people down. I'll be buying the Wii version just for the novelty, personally.
