  2. I don't mind seeing a company make a mistake and learn from it.

    Not everyone sees the world as you do so missteps happen. They figured they had earned trust already and that the new tools they were going to offer would be worth the price of some privacy.

    When they saw the reaction - or another viewpoint - they adapted instead of keeping their head in the sand. The fact that they communicated the change in the first place shows it was not some nefarious scheme.

    So they shouldn't protect the physical safety of people from a device that you carry in your pocket that is known to have a fault causing it to catch fire

    Knowledge is protection. Afraid that some people won't get the word, then send a text to everyone. Have an opt-out at least which could include a wavier.

    It's dead, get your money back and get something else. I can't imagine anyone wanting to cling onto this burning POS.

    Its being forced that sucks. What if the next stage of protecting us is disabling phones that don't have offer most recent OS versions on the basis they are not secure or safe?

    I don't think your watch would just stop working or quit receiving notification from your phone.

    You might not be able to get new faces or functionality out of it, but that is pretty normal with non-cloud stuff too.

    A government runs a deficit for 100 years? Everybody is happier, healthier, and just all around more pleased with life.

    Sounds all good to me, why would you want the government to run like a business when faced with that?

    Because the happiness is based on a lie or - at the very least - a very unstable foundation. Ask Greece.

    A business exists to make money. A government doesn't.

  8. They show integrity by hiding who did what while in a government position? This information shouldn't be secret to begin with.

    Additionally, maybe the names are being hidden because the department has been using sock puppets for much of their work. We have already seen that in the IRS.

    That's how it is in the US too.

    I have to sign a release per doctor/lab/family member/ etc for them to have access. In fact, my insurance company only allows me to authorize a family to access my account for at most one year before I need to fill out the forms again.

    It was not always the case here, but has been for the past 15 plus years (HIPPA is what helped define this.)

    This is what happens when you work for a company that values it's social awareness and community factor as much as Google does.

    They probably thought that their employees felt the same and would be pleased helping people less fortunate than themselves. (Especially since demographically, their employees vote for a party that is all for taking people's stuff and redistributing it to the less fortunate.)

    I know! It's too bad the greedy bus driver don't drive seniors and poor people for no paycheck. I guess bus drivers really don't care about the poor and the seniors. To be clear, these bus drivers should also be paying for the gas and maintenance.

    I'm fine with those comparisons. It lets you know the bias or state of mind of people when they make those leaps of logic and makes it easier to debunk their whole message.

    It's like the people saying that "make America great again" is code for taking America back to the slave and plantation times. It shows their state of mind if that is when they think America was great. Most Trump voters do not think the pre-civil war days where America's glory days but apparently a lot of Hillary voters do (or at least the loud ones).

    Maybe China doesn't pay their CEOs tens of millions of dollars to be able to afford that kind of expense.

    Ain't it amazing what you can offer when the CEO doesn't make 500x more than the average skilled employee? I wonder when we'll learn that lesson...

    Well... that covers 10 employee of the 1 million dollar bonus.

    Sorry, but the pool for CEO is a lot smaller than the average skilled worker. That drives wages up. Just like the pool of skilled workers is smaller than unskilled which is what drives those wages up.

    People would be a lot happier if they weren't so worried about keeping up with the Jones.

    I agree that this is their right. It is still ripe for abuse. This is clearly coming as a result of people pissed that Trump was able to use social media to get around the mainstream news organizations constant barrage of hate and distortion of everything he said.

    This is just a play to move the power back to CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc.

    Honestly, for a world wide platform, how are they really expecting this to work? You have countries- including the US - that can devote huge resources to flagging anything critical to their regime as fake
