All I can say is, "keep one-upping each other!" The more competition (not marketing!) we see, the better we, as consumers make out. So what if the performance gains are negligible (in certain areas) the more they release, the cheaper some of these older (still extremely viable) chips get!
Age old fight: Intel vs. AMD... you want to know who wins? Us.
The bottom line is that getting yourself frozen in the face of a terminal illness is a very low-probability shot in the dark. But any chance of survival is better than no chance, so I'd take the risk if it were me.
Honestly, a shot in the dark is better than some people have. In that situation I can't honestly say I wouldn't "chance it"..000001% chance beats the hell out of 0% any day of the week.
As for waking up rich, good luck there. If its hundreds of years, there are so many factors... but you never know, you could wake up a celebrity for being the oldest/first cured/first something person to come out of cryogenesis if your money doesn't meet you there for whatever reason!
Somehow I get the feeling that not only will we foot the bill for DHS via taxes, but we'll get charged once by our carriers, and those carriers will also most likely find some way to bill the government for the "critical" service they are providing. Even (hypothetical) kickbacks to the carriers in the form of tax breaks, we still foot the bill 1, 2 possibly 3 times.
I've been a PC gamer for like... ever. But just knowing that I don't have to upgrade a component in a $600 gaming system to play the latest game every 6-12 months... hell there are video cards that run that much!
In perspective, the PS3 IS a PC (cell processor yada yada), Blue-Ray whoopdie do, but consider the sheer amount of data they can throw on one of those discs? I am seriously considering picking one up.
Now, give me a version of Linux that will run on it (with minimal hacking) and I'm sold!
or should I even care how many MILLIONS of years it takes a clock to get thrown off by an entire second?
70 million years is more than enough time for me... Sounds like somebody needs more grant money to me!
