If I wasn't a webdev I think I really would have enjoyed being a storm chaser. Here's hoping they get the interceptions they are after and safe travels all season.
I think they ought to take the ruling in stride and just open source the bricks. Make them an ISO standard, but continue to provide quality over quantity. Then let the Canadian company do the cheap bricks so that we can build whatever we want out of bulk.
Wish they would do this with the mindstorm stuff too!
If you would like to point me to which part of my "sacred text" describes the earth as being 6000 years old I would be happy to agree with you, but just because some Christians believe that the Bible points to the earth being 6000 years old, and I believe incorrectly, does not mean that we should all be painted with the same brush.
While I fundamentally agree with you, I must say your analogy isn't very apt. They aren't coming out with new roads that aren't compatible with my one to two year old vehicle.

Almost certainly Firefox's; Chrome directly uses the Mozilla NSAPI code, and it doesn't do ActiveX.
um, do you mean that Chrome doesn't use ActiveX? Open up about:plugins in chrome and look at what the first thing in the list is, that it installed on its own by default.
I am not saying you are wrong that they use firefox's code, just that they do use ActiveX.
I cannot wait to get this on my iPhone. I would like to see some more in depth information about how this compares to tamarin though. If it truly is better than tamarin, I wonder if mozilla would consider swapping it for squirrelFish.
As an aside, that is an awesome logo...
where is the energy coming from to perform the electrolysis? Is it coming from the alternator that is running off of the gasoline? If not you need to factor that into the energy usage as well, MPG isn't the only measurement you have to look at.
I think this is great and is going to have a lot more impact on our daily lives than the space prize. It does seem like quite a challenge though.
Are there any restrictions on the type of fuel though? Does it have to use regular gas? Can it use anything that can be measured in gallons?
I sure hope so. Something like this from google has to be better than the ones that are currently out there. With most of them the user interfaces are dismal at best.
Google, however, is no ordinary company. As detailed in a footnote, one Google employee, looking to be a profitable trader, wrote the code for an extremely prolific trading robot. As a result, he "was participating in about half of all trades" and made a profit (in Goobles).
I'm just going to point out that Windows has had digitally-signed apps since (at least) Windows 98, and that nearly every system library and executable in Windows XP and Windows Vista is signed. Vista even checks the signature before you see the UAC dialog, and the dialog for signed apps looks completely different (and has different keyboard shortcuts).
uh, so you are saying that signed applications should be on par with Vista and other microsoft products?

What the hell are you doing reading TFA?? This is slashdot, you read the summary, you hit reply and you try to make a joke. Any links in the summary are just there for looks.
War Games" can be very serious exercises indeed - e.g. the US carried out a number of War Games in 1999 called Desert Crossing to simulate the invasion of Iraq.
CPI filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the FCC on August 24. After the statutory 20 business days had passed without any word from the agency, CPI filed suit on September 25, 2006. That apparently got the FCC's attention; the FOIA request was officially denied the next day.
This seems strange, and TFA doesn't really clarify, but from the picture it looks like the legs of the microraptor are fused together. this would seem to make it quite difficult to maneuver on the ground. And if they weren't fused, it seems it would have been difficult to keep the legs together to get the lift of the bottom wings...
So let's not forget: good things come to he who waits.
Just tell that to all of the Duke Nukem Fans.

No achievement for being an apple fanboy. Less things in this list than another one posted further down. Lame.
