  1. However, there are often issues where one side is demonstrably wrong and to deny that when it happens is equally unproductive

Sure, but are layers of straw man arguments really useful toward achieving a productive dialogue?

One major issue with the current political climate -- which you two have just perfectly demonstrated -- is the all or nothing approach, like the misguided loyalty to a football team that is so common in the US. Next to zero critical thinking or consideration of opposing views in current political discourse. Left vs Right -- that's all it is anymore. My side is always correct.

Seems to be an anti-evolutionary and stupid approach to matters of critical importance, in my opinion.

  3. Now we can't mock the posts, debate the facts, or keep tabs on the threat. Nothing will get better; rather, these vile sentiments will fester, and we'll have a tougher time anticipating the next Charlotsville, since it won't be so widely publicized.

You don't need the website to keep tabs on the threat. Just watch the evening news. Nothing is festering.

Again, I have trouble picturing how favicons are of any help with 693 of them on the screen or in a scroll bar, a list or whatever. 693 of anything is just a heap. Please help me understand.

I hate to be "that guy", but for fucks sakes, put the fucking thing away when you're on BART (or any public transit) and pay attention to your surroundings. Why do we have to tell people this? Many of these thefts are grab and dash right when the doors are about to close. That nimrod standing right by the door, headphones on, staring at the screen..? You're a mark.
