I don't really have a big problem with the Games for Windows label. It helped developers get their acts together for 64-bit windows versions, and games now all save in the same area, so saves are separated among users. What I don't really like, however, is GFW LIVE. It seems really dumbed down from other PC gaming services. Whoever thought that PC gamers would pay a subscription fee for it is also insane. I think they dropped the subscriptions recently, but it still has the stigma of being Xbox LIVE, for Windows.
Nearly every car made past 1996 has the ability to measure mileage, manufacturers just choose not to make a gauge for it. If you want to see what kind of mileage you are getting, you can read it off of your car's diagnostic port with one of these
Processes are better than threads for stability purposes. If a page in a thread causes the browser to crash, the whole thing crashes. If a page in a process crashes, that tab is all that is affected.
I think using something like MythTv or Tivo is a massive waste of time because you still have to deal with the commercials. mythtv scans for commercials and automatically skips them. It's pretty accurate, only every once in a while do I see a commercial in a recording, and I never get false positives.
yeah, you will still need the converter box. The antenna just picks up the signal, it is still digital and has to be decoded to analog to work with most TV's. Also, if you need help picking out an antenna, check out antennaweb.org
My school recently switched from WebCT to Desire2Learn, and I was surprised how much better it was. Now I don't have to worry about if that assignment I submitted really submitted. I don't have to run to a windows lab to do homework. No more random javascript errors. Desire2Learn's software works on every browser I've tried it in. It's a much better product overall.
wrap some tape around all the cable ends, holding the tab down. I used to have the same problem. I was wasting time and money putting new tips on cables, until a friend of mine showed me this.
As I sit here right now, I have word pad open and it is editing the file "resume-041206.doc". so yes, word pad can open.doc files (in WinXP Pro at least)
First, everyone hates it when you use "M$". It's not cool or trendy, it's just annoying.
As for which Ubuntu to choose, try Xubuntu. I find that XFCE is much faster than KDE, and looks nicer than Gnome. But what it all comes down to is a personal preference. Just try the livecd's for each one before you decide. (you can also install the other desktop environments later if you get tired of whichever you choose)
The contest site has a rules page that tells what accuracy you have to beat. You have to train your system with the dataset they provide and then test against what those people actually liked for the year after the dataset ends.
I could not find anything about whether you get to keep the rights to your code if you are not a winner.
A good way to avoid flash-based ads and alot of other malicious stuff would be to install the No-script extension for Firefox. It blocks Javascript from all sites except for the ones you manually select and can also be configured to block Flash, Java, or other plugins.

I think the scan gauge can display fuel consumption rate as well as MPG.

this is interesting. does AMD's crossfire do this as well?

Just make a copy of it on a regular blank. Sure it wont start the car, but it WILL open the door, solving the "locked the keys in the car" problem.
sure, as long as I get 10.X.X.X

Yeah that'll turn out great.
Officer: Sir why did you ram that other vehicle?
Driver: Super Truck Smash! Hang on, I'll just push '2' repeatedly until I respawn.
an hour wasn't early enough for me :(
You mean you guys don't pronounce 'WTF'?
