    Unfortunately I can't find anything... Just basing off my sister who is always telling me that medicare constantly pays too much for services, or pays for far more than is necessary, etc. Hospitals see it as a cash-cow.

    Efficiency has to do with much more than 'overhead.' Medicare consistantly pays too much for healthcare, or provides for far more than necessary in many cases. When it's "not your money" it's much easier to spend.

    It reduces the waste that's a fundamental part of private health care.

    Hrm. My sister who works in the medical field would disagree. Look into how "efficiently" medicare and medicaid operate sometime.

    The problem is that most people you're explaining this to are not 'this croud' and *have* Word at work, at home, everywhere. And many of them don't know what 'other operating systems' there are, or don't care that you can't use Word on your crappy lie-nux system. Thus the analogies to more common scenarios and how these issues play out long-term.

    Companies can still compete on features, interface, etc. Just recently I was forced to use Excel rather than OpenOffice when trying to add a linear regression line to a graph. OOo couldn't handle this, but Excel has excellent support (even adds the function used to the graph).

    html/graphics and multimedia capabilities. While I haven't used PINE in a long time, last time I did, mime was almost an add-on, and a bit gnarly to use.

    You consider that a *feature*? Ugh. If mutt can't display it, then it's SPAM.

    It's one day of the year the /. guys have some fun with the site. Nothing to blow a gasket over. I can't believe how many nerds get so upset when /. decides to mess around a bit. Just have fun with it, or ignore the site for the day if it puts you off *that* much. Maybe even develop a sense of humor?
