    1) Virtually every Western democracy has public health care (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_health_care).

    2) By some miracle, they manage to pay for it.

    3) By and large, if you read the blogs of people actually living in those countries, they appear reasonably happy with their imperfect but functioning health systems (http://www.thehealthcareblog.com/the_health_care_blog/international/).

    So, the opponents are essentially claiming that America is too "special" (i.e. lame) to do what virtually every other country can do. That may not be what they say, but that's what they imply.

    Of course, I was six at the time, and the buildings were only suitable for ants, grasshoppers and spider and snails. Admittedly I also had significant compatibility and upgrade problems which were quickly fixed with a "light spanking" patch.

    Ha! You pinkos! I bet you want ALL charging systems to work on 60 cps 120 volt AC current. At least one of them should only be straight 36 amp DC current and the other should actually *mix* AC and DC on the same line, thus working against itself during each AC cycle.     Or we're willing to make contraception easy and cheap worldwide.

    Instead of this "Our Moon!, Our Mars!" "First!" crap, then they might be taken more seriously than a bunch of footballers trying to win the championship.

    Near earth orbit living environment for hospitals, enhanced communication satellite networks, space-based solar power, zero-g industries. The list goes on. If NASA was engaged in these useful and profitable activities, nobody would think of shutting them down. Their job is done. Let private industry take over.
