So you're not surprised that "Why do men have nipples?" is the most frequent Google search of all the searches that begin with "Why?" The most frequent one? Boy, people here are more bizarrely weird than I thought.
I can imagine a bunch of Slashdotters sitting alone in their basements saying, "No, seems perfectly normal, dude."
I get the exact same suggested search results. Doesn't their appearance there signify that they are the most frequent Google searches starting with "Why . .."? Of all the millions of Google searches that are performed?
Isn't that a bit . . . strange, for some reason? You don't think so?
will also have to pay the networking company nearly US$800,000 in restitution after being the conduit for hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of counterfeit computer hardware
At least in this case it sounds like he will have to pay pretty much everything back, possibly even more than he made. Doesn't sound like such a small "risk" to me.
If you had bothered to read the article, you would see that it is news because there is a new version of MonoTouch that supports the new iPad capabilities. It didn't before. That's what this article is about!
The Citrix article talks about how the iPad is a better interface for their users than the iPhone because of the larger screen and keyboard, which means it may be useful for the first time in certain work environments.
I'm tired of smug, arrogant morons whining about "old news" on Slashdot, especially when it isn't old news. But of course it's oh, so fashionable to bash Apple around here.
Why? This is technology-related news. It's relevant.
Is it really going to painfully hurt you to skip over the articles you don't want to read?
I think if some other company that was more "fashionable" around here than Apple had made exactly the same product instead of Apple, there wouldn't be so much crying. To the editors: These kinds of articles are relevant. Please continue posting them.
I can't wait to see how the conservative "Pundits" spin this.
Rush: The companies developing space flight are going to have to borrow a lot of money. What does that mean? Banks. What do banks mean? Jews. OMG Obama is taking money from teh Jews!
Glenn: This draws interesting parallels with Germany in the late 1930s, when many things that had been run by the government were privatized. OMG Obama is taking us down the road to Nazism!
The average Slashdotter: This just opens the door to more government regulation of the companies developing space flight. How's that hope and change working out for you? [Gets modded up to +5, insightful]
How does one user complaining about upgrade policies on a forum, with almost all the other users thinking the policies aren't so bad, qualify as a "collective sense of entitlement"?
So then why did the summary call Harman "the ranking Democratic on the House intelligence committee" but fail to mention that Gonzales was a Republican?
I don't think microsofts suppport lifecycle policy for windows is unreasonable.
Their support policy for XP would not be unreasonable at all . . . if there were a decent replacement for XP. Many people, myself included, find that XP still works a lot better than Vista for them.
Compare that to the support lifecycles of most linux distros and see who comes out ahead.
That's true. Many Linux distros are not supported for all that long, relatively speaking. But the upgrades are free, and at least for me, they tend to get better over time. So it's worth the upgrade (and it would probably be worth it even if I were paying for support). I do agree that long-term support is good in some situations, such as for production servers in companies that cannot afford downtime or have many such servers, though.
Why is everyone ignoring the "rare songbook signed by the composer Richard Rodgers"? That could be worth far more than the iPod.
Compared to that, the iPod would be a side gift. But that's what the media is focusing on because it's more sensational.
So after a huge front-page story that did nothing but announce Obama's running mate, McCain gets hidden away in some hidden corner of Slashdot.
And the "huge" story that did nothing but announce Obama's running mate is . . . where? Do you have a link?
This article about McCain, on the other hand, does qualify as a "huge front-page story." I can't tell if you're trying to be funny/sarcastic, or if you're just spouting the usual conservative 180-degrees-from-reality lies.
If you think Ackbar Hussein Osama is going to be any bigger on individual rights than Grandpa and the Bitch, then you are sadly mistaken.
It's interesting that you should refer to "Barack" as "Ackbar." Admiral Ackbar was an accomplished leader of the Rebel Alliance, which was the "good" side in the Star Wars universe. He spent much of his career fighting the (evil) Galactic Empire.
It's telling that you should be using the name in a derogatory way.
In any case, I'm not the biggest expert in Star Wars, unlike some here, but evidently at some point Ackbar was wrongly accused of treason by a politically-motivated opponent. We'll have to watch Fox News over the next several months to find out how much life imitates art.
I guess you do have a point there.

Jesus christ stop with the Apple spam.

I daresay anyone who was shot, their organs auctioned off, and their families billed for the bullet might have an opinion or two.
I know some people are pretty opinionated, but . . . after they are dismembered and their brains taken out?
WALLACE: You said earlier there are some things [George W. Bush] could fairly be criticized for. Are you willing to tell me any of those?
G.H.W. BUSH: No, I don't need to go into that. You can go back to your -- what do you call it? -- your Google and you figure out all that.

Well, it's better than, uh, squirting their junk. Bleah!!!!!! Suddenly I don't feel so well.
Cause they took our jebs!
They can have him. Does anyone really want a third Bush presidency?
In November the Savior was elected
Huh? Didn't you know she and McCain lost? She can try again in 2012, if God tells her to.
