>>Right now, the cheapest blu-ray players are still up around $400
Problem is that is for ONE player. We use at least 4 DVD players all the time. Our bedroom, living room, kids room, and the Mini-Van.
So what happens when I buy the new Disney movie on "Blu-Ray" and they wife calls at work saying she can't get the movie to play in the van?? Why did I spend $35 for this movie with a blue strip on the top when the exact same movie next to it was $15 she was asking in the store??:)
$1600 for 4 Blu_Ray players.... well more than that for an in Mini-Van Blu-Ray player I'm sure!
Problem is we are all thinking like men. Geek guys that is. What happens when the wife finds out you just spent $400 dollars on yet "another" DVD player and those "NEW" disney movies on "Blu-Ray" for some reason won't play in the Mini-Van??
I won't play in the kids bedrooms, or in your room, or in the family room.
How many DVD players do you have?? I have 4 that I can think of that get used all the time. So that is not $400, that is $1600 to switch to Blu-Ray.
Yeah, going "Blu-Ray" means that if you spend $35 dollars on SpiderMan 3, well, now I can't watch it on my portable DVD player, I can't watch in my mini-van, etc. That was one nice thing about a lot of HD-DVD discs at least.
A Vista spec machine in non Governmental hands!
Maybe they'll let Microsoft borrow it to take to court with a "Ready for Vista" sticker on it. At least then they'd have one piece of evidence to submit to the judge.
I was wondering if anyone would mention that. This "Photoshop" express has nothing to do with the real Photoshop. I can't understand how people are even comparing to Photoshop or GIMP??
This is much more like a 'cut down' version of Picasa actually, which itself is just basic image manipluation tool. But Picasa has some cool effects & is easy to manipulate a large number of pics quickly. Also, Picasa isn't DOG slow like this web based version seems to be.
I would open the laptop up and check. It's probably just a celeron. We all know Dell is in bed with Intel!!
Ok ok, point taken, but still clearly the article summery gives the model and it's a Core 2 Duo. The guy was asking why I was assuming the people that would get a laptop with this Flash drive would get it with a Intel chip. And that exactly what the article is about.
>>I have an idea! Maybe the people who care about hd noise _don't_ have Intel chips that need a fan that sounds like the Swamp Boat from the WaterBoy movie with Adam Sandler!
Uhh... I didn't even RTFA and I can cleary see it says he bought a >>Dell Latitude D830 that has a flash HD in it. All Dell laptops have Intel chips. And yes the D830 has a Core 2 Duo. Firgured it would pretty unlikely they were going to offer a something higher end with a "new" 64gb flash HD and a "celeron" based CPU.
Well, in all seriousness, I have bought 2 Core 2 Duo laptops with in the last month. One an HP and one a Gateway (ok a so maybe you could call the Gateway a "Craptop" ):) The "normal" fan noise is not that noticable, but when you do most anything (these both have Vista on them) of that starts to take "some" processing power, then the fan kicks to it's high speed mode and DANG!! they are loud. They're is just no other way to put it. I mean it's not "I need ear plugs" loud or anything, but if your in a quiet place like a library, people mike glance. No big deal, but I would say I have no such complaints about any modern HDs I've heard in laptops.
I know there are a million of these, but this one is actually is pretty funny... (maybe not highest prodcution quality but it's pretty well cut the further you get along)
As a long time Microsoft hater... hey I am an old Amiga user:) I have recently started to wonder how long it is going to fair for Apple to continue to get to tie themselves to expsensive hardware that they control and only they can sell. Or to say another way, I think they may have the potential to be the main competitor to Windows, but they limit their potential market share buy sticking to their hardware. Is fair then to blame MS for being a Monopoly when Apple could likely have half the market if they opened their OS to hardware as MS has? MS then is only a monopoly because Apple chooses not to play fair. I mean if MS said we are going to force you OUR $1500 computers with every copy of Vista people would freak out. But Apply gets away with it.
Now MS does plenty of other nasty stuff. But just looking at markshare these days Apple is holding themselves back to make more money off their hardware. We'd be giving MS tons of crap for doing the same. Apple is cheating and using anti-trust tactics.
>>3 and 2 GHz procs and 1 and 2 Gigs of RAM are minimal HW!?
Actually, he said that AND he also said that he had to turn off AERO AND go and 'optimize" the system even more which means turning off even more features, just to get it to run smoothly.
So this guy that worked on Vista is trying to make an argument that you need a beast of a machine, you have to turn off a bunch of features (some of the main selling features) and this is a good thing??
Yeah, sounds great. Can't think of anything better to do with a 3ghz machine a couple GIGS a RAM and 300+ gigs of HD space than to just barely make it usable buddy
In 1722 a series of letters appeared in the New-England Courant written by a middle-aged widow named 'Silence Dogood'. The letters poked fun at various aspects of life in colonial America, such as the drunkenness of locals and the fashion for hoop petticoats.
Silence was particularly fond of ridiculing Harvard. She complained that it had been ruined by corruption and elitism, and that most of its students learned nothing there except how to be conceited.
This was the first of many of Benjamin Franklin's hoaxes.
So I'm guessing some of the founding fathers of our nation and at least this Signer of the Declaration of Independence would have this guys back.;-)
It won't let you copy by right clicking in IE. Most of the rest of the site lets you right click and copy it's just the sections where he seems to quote from books.
>>You don't need a computer at all to do those things.
Well, then this thing is way over powered. Same point.

...to save you reading the article, it actually IS the worlds fastest super computer, but it's running Vista so now it only comes in 4th.
Thank you.

This is what I've been saying about music. Ignore the pirates. Oh, same about all the stolen beer. Hiccup! Oops. Err wasn't me.
Yes, it is illegal. There are laws against false advertising. Unless you're now going to give me beer.
Oops! In that case.... I store all my beer at 7-11. Just let the guy at the counter know I said you could have it free.
So is this illegal??
Uh oh... Uh oh fart.
Did you fart, Ray? Did you fucking fart?
Q: How many New Yorkers does it take to screw in a "blue" light bulb?
A: None 'o yo' fuckin' business!
Q: How many software people does it take to screw in a "blue" light bulb?
A: None. That's a hardware problem.
Q: How many televangelists does it take to screw in a "blue" light bulb?
A: None. Televangelists screw in motels.
Q: How many straight San Franciscans does it take to screw in a "blue" light bulb?
A: Both of them.
We've already got 3D pr0n, they're called girls.
:(
Yeah, but when I ever go into the locker room to view that "real" porn I get arrested.
Of course, I guess it still ends up with sex. It's just that it's then with a guy named Bubba who's sharing my cell.

Not that hard??
I've done what you said and made 3 email accounts. I only ever gave my email address to 1 other person, my Mom.
But somehow the spammers knew my name was John and they found all my adresses!!
john@yahoo
john@gmail and
john@hotmail
I can't figure out how they did it!!
When you have that Intel chip that needs a fan that sounds like the Swamp Boat from the WaterBoy movie with Adam Sandler.
Every time I turn on my laptop and I hear the fan spin to life I think of that swamp boat and I can hear,
"My Mama says that alligators are ornery because they got all them teeth and no toothbrush."
"Wrong! Alligators are aggressive because of an enlarged medulla oblongata."
"No, Colonel Sanders, you're wrong. You're all wrong. Mama's right. Mama's right!"
"Somethin' wrong with his medulla oblongata."

It works in Opera too. I posted that earlier. It's probably just IE. One of those crazy non-webstandard things. Disable right click?? WTF??
