So, if at the end of the year, they hope to have a grand total of 6 million shipped, and saying that no one buys another 360, Sony will barely have over half as many units out there as MS. Those aren't promising numbers to me at all. Consider Wii sold 2 million in approx. 2 months. Sony needs 14 months to do what the Wii will most likely do in 6 months.
I wonder how the basic idea of solar power panels could work. For example, calculators, etc are powered wireless/touchless. Seems like this could be a possibility, although probably inefficient.
Your device could have some sort of solar panel on each side, and the charging pad/emitter could be an intense / invisible spectrum of light to charge. Ideas? Thoughts?
ExxonMobil's Response to a Report by the Union of Concerned Scientists
ExxonMobil believes the Union of Concerned Scientists' paper is deeply offensive and wrong.
ExxonMobil engages in public policy discussions by encouraging serious inquiry, analysis, the sharing of information and transparency.
Our support of scientific research on climate change is made public on our web site and it includes more than 40 peer reviewed papers authored by ExxonMobil scientists, and our participation on the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and numerous related scientific bodies. While there is more to learn on climate science, what is clear today is that greenhouse gas emissions are one of the factors that contribute to climate change, and that the use of fossil fuels is a major source of these emissions.
With regard to contributions that ExxonMobil provides to various public policy organizations, our support is transparent and appears on our web site. The support extends to a fairly broad array of organizations that research significant domestic and foreign policy issues and promote discussion on issues of direct relevance to the company. These groups range from the Brookings Institution to the American Enterprise Institute and from the Council on Foreign Relations to the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
As these organizations are independent of their corporate sponsors and are tax-exempt, we don't control their views and messages, and they do not speak on our behalf. In many cases and with respect to the full range of policy positions taken by these organizations, we find some of them persuasive and enlightening, and some not. We annually review our support of tax-exempt organizations and make appropriate adjustments. In addition, we publish the complete list of such organizations on our web site - and we update this list once per year.
Supporting scientific and public policy research leads to better informed and more open discussion of options to address such a serious, global issue as climate change.

They provide me with an income. I'm happy with them. But this doesn't I agree with all their policies. I just fix their computers!
Three extra discs worth of video means ~6 hours of content. Which still wouldn't fit on one Blu-Ray/HD-DVD disc if the material was optimized for the high-definition resolution. You'd still need 3 discs.
The three other discs are DVD's aka videos, not bonus game material. So it doesn't need to be, and shouldn't be, one disc.
I could maybe see 1 game dvd and 1 HD-DVD bonus material disc to boost the add-on drive sales, but again, this game is pointed the mass market and to appeal to all. Your arguement has absolutely nothing to do with game disc capacity since the game, on all versions, is being designed within the DVD-9 constraints.
GameStop now takes your $100, puts it in the bank, gets mad interest off of your cash and another 400,000 reservations, and you're left with nothing. Instead of just having customers pay when the product is physically here.... Sorry, but I want a product when I put cash down.
What a snare preorders are.... I pre-ordered a 360 thru GameStop 6 months in advance, and they told me I wouldn't be in the first release group on their order. So I said 'screw that' and went to ShopKo and grabbed a Premium Bundle and only waited in line for 2 hours. Then, 3 months after the release, GameStop calls me to tell me my 'pre-order' is in. This is after the fact that Best Buy had units on the shelf at a steady rate.
Where is the 6GB number coming from? Dual layer discs hold approx. 9GB.
And I still don't see a problem with having a two-disc game. If it keeps manufacturing and development costs down, it's not a big deal to me.
Off topic of what I'm mentioning, but it would be nice, if there were two-disc games, to allow the HD-DVD drive and the built in to read both discs at the same time. Dual drives loading maps would definitely be nice and a a lot faster. Or even to avoid the "Please insert disc 2" screen prompts. No interruption in game play.
I said it before, and I'll say it again: I LOVE options.
MS brings up the point I keep pointing out: Next-gen consoles DON'T NEED next-gen media formats. DVD9 is fine.
Sony is still forcing the Blu-Ray format, although the only reason for it is for Sony to push it's agenda that Blu-Ray > HD-DVD. There's no need for Blu-Ray on the PS3. But it's still there. And you HAVE TO pay that premium price ($200 higher than the XBOX 360) even if you never want to watch a soon to be obsolete video format.
Let them kill the whole third party accessory market. And anything evenly remoted related to Apple products. They're most likely not making money of these items.
Sure, 16 year olds work and drive. Let the parents program their cell phones, home phone, and the kids work phone number. That's all they're legitimately need.
Too bad you can do the same thing, AND get a phone, with plenty of the PDA-based cell phones (smart phones). And spend the same amount of money on the hardware.
Palm Trio, Motorola Q, etc.... And you don't have to be near a free/open WiFi spot.
Next to UMD and Betamax, Worst....Sony....Product....Ever

I know they'll sell like hotcakes then. Especially if they smelled like hot cakes!

And the Militia map on Counter-Strike was pure gold to me.
Tell them to watch a CitiBank commercial about identity theft. That should knock some sense in them.

Seems like the modders are always one step ahead.

+4 Insightful for taking my comment from above. Thanks....
The only reason the name is sticking is because it's a palindrome and probably will have some nifty logo =)
Honestly, Keira Knightley. I want you to shiver me timbers.
I'll show you why my Roger is so jolly.
How'd you like to scrape the barnacles off of me rudder?
You better be prepared to be boarded, cuz I'd love to drop anchor in your lagoon!
That's some treasure chest you've got there.
That's the finest pirate booty I've ever laid eyes on.
Okay, I'm done with the Pirate Pick Up Lines
Defend it all you want. That doesn't change the fact it's still gonna cost $600, which I don't have.
Oh wait, Halo isn't listed....
Wouldn't Sony need to be stockpiling millions of BluRay drives for millions of PS3s?

Thank you MS for not forcing HD-DVD on us.
