Well besides evading paying the fare, if what they had previously not disclosed could have been used to forge identities of people, then who knows what those terrorist masterminds could have come up with? I'm not one to think of devious things like that.
Again, if you RTFA, the MTBA attempted to get all the documents from them on August 8th, one day before this was made available. Besides that, if you actually RTFA, the way the students worded their email, it seemed as if though they had additional information that they weren't disclosing. I really don't feel like typing everything out, but if you RTFA, you'll see why the MTBA came to that conclusion and if I were in that guys position, I would have came to the same conclusion. I don't know about the whole FBI thing, but its hard not to freak out when there is the possibility that a bunch of undergrad students have knowledge of a potential security hole that they won't disclose to you that could cause the MTBA to be defrauded and even possibly threaten public safety.
clearly you didn't read the court order that was submitted by the MBTA. It says that they evaluated it and said they found nothing new in there. What was submitted to them was an old hack that they were already aware of and had already implemented additional security measure to fix. This further led them to believe that there was additional information that was being withheld from them, especially since the MIT students legal counsel advised them to not give additional information to the MBTA. They never gave the MBTA a chance to fix anything.
I'm all for free speech, but when you use it irresponsibly as these kids appear to be doing, I think you should suffer the consequences. What if this is used by some terrorist organization to mount an attack? Will everyone here defending free speech really still advocate the right for these students to disclose this information?
thats not how make -j works. you can't pass -j to a program you're compiling and magically make that program multithreaded. -j specifies how many threads should compile ffmpeg, not how many threads ffmpeg should run when encoding a video.
According to the make manpage, -j only threads make, not ffmpeg.
-j [jobs], --jobs[=jobs]
Specifies the number of jobs (commands) to run simultaneously. If there is more than one -j option, the last one is effective. If the -j option is given without an argument, make will not limit the number of jobs that can run simultaneously.
you have clearly not attempted to develop sites for AOL browser. Although its not necessarily an issue with the browser rendering itself, developing a site to work with AOL's browser is a huge pain. Here's a great explanation of the issue http://www.cactusoft.com/blog_38
Do you have references to support that statement? Even if thats what people did think, the economy in WW1 and WW2 is no where near as intertwined as it is today. There are so many American companies in China and vice versa. Billions if not trillions would be lost from both sides if the US and China went to war with each other.
World War 3 will start with a conflict with China, not these arabs hiding in caves.
Neither government is stupid enough to ever fight each other. In today's modern global economy, the entire world's economy would go to shit if the US and China went to war.
The only front that a war with China will take place on is the digital front.
And the point of the article is...?

China isn't the only country hacking US interests so whats the big deal here? I'm pretty sure we have just as many hackers hacking into not only Chinese systems, but probably every country out there that doesn't align with our interests.
From TFA... "the OCZ neural impulse actuator doesn't use electrode cream, which is a good thing because the last thing gamers would want to do is lube up before playing their favorite game."
They clearly haven't tested it with this game yet...
The point isn't what the US gained out of the lend-Lease agreement. It was crucial in providing the United States with a military presence in Europe. My point is that without Lend-Lease, there is no way the UK could have recouped enough equipment fast enough to continue fighting Germany. Taking that one step further, I'm disproving your allegation that the Untied States' involvement in the European Theatre was not a turning point in the war.
Had the UK gone turtle we'd have survived fine without the US. Had the USSR not had US materials/equipment they'd maybe have lost 25m men not just the 20m they did lose.
funny, according the this, the USSR was only supplied with $11.3 billion in US equipment while the UK was supplied with $31.4 BILLION in US equipment.
Yea buddy, I'm certain you guys could have handled everything by yourself. Especially with all the equipment you donated to Germany after Dunkirk
But you have to remember, even if you legally get your hands on some insider information, you would still need to make the trade. The SEC is going to be reviewing suspicious trades which means that you will inevitably get caught. Once you get caught for that, you might get off for insider trading but that doesn't mean you're going to get off for hacking.
Doesn't combining CO with H2O to get CO2 + H2 defeat the purpose of this whole device? Why not just combine CO2 with H2 initially if that can produce fuel?
The article says that the process doesn't actually produce fuel. It breaks down carbon dioxide into carbon monoxide and oxygen. This is nice but carbon monoxide is still a green house gas and without a way to actually convert carbon monoxide into fuel, whats the point?
I used to believe in virus protection but with the advent of all these rootkits that are undetectable by virus scanners, whats the point of having a virus scanner installed? If someone really wants to get into your computer, they can. If I don't click on everything I get emailed and I keep my windows installation up to date with updates from microsoft, I don't see what added value a virus scanner offers besides slowing down my computer.
China's military is a force to be reckoned with... if you're invading. Besides that, China can't mobilize that many people to attack anything off their continent. Regardless, screw the military... if they really wanted to screw over the US, they control our economy. If they decide to make it illegal to stop trading with us, our economy would instantly go into a recession. They have so much US currency that if they let it all go, the value of the dollar would depreciate like it did for Mexico not long ago.
In this world and age, military might only scares the small fry that can't fight back. With countries like China, its the financial power that they have that is far more scary.

I would ask, "Are you stupid?"
Unfortunately, I think there are a good number of slashdotters that won't be able to "reproduce"

This just seems like more propaganda.actually, the summary says "to a few features that are being removed"
clearly register global and magic quotes are "features"
