  1. Missing the point? on Universal Remote's Days Are Numbered · · Score: 2, Interesting

I think they are missing the point in saying that the universal remote's days are numbered. Smartphones just allow another way to do the same thing, and not always better. Currently, I use my desktop when im sitting at the pc, an ir remote when not, and an ipaq when roaming around the house. All three have different situation where they are better than others so to say one will hail the death of the other is missing the point that more options are available in general. I use linuxMCE for all my home AV needs and it allows me to use all three with the same interface. If anything I think the end result of smartphones being used more and more is less lost remotes.

You CAN turn off the encryption, but it makes a point to tell you its a bad idea. And thats a product from At&t! Seriously though, most wireless products DONT come protected by default and I think the manufacturers should be somehow pressed to make this the default. It should really be the consumer who takes the time to educate themselves, but thats just not happening. my router is a 2wire home gateway 1800 (me thinks)

My gun instructor said it was an efficient way for a noob to improve their accuracy. He said that upon squeezing the trigger, a novice tends to pull the gun to the left or right. When turning the gun sideways that movement translates into vertical movement. Since people are generally taller than wider, this theoretically increased their chance to hit the intended target. So yeah, but I doubt most of them even know why.

So i wander over to a panel, and maybe I flip some switches here and there. Who knew they were actually connected to a huge lab on the other side of the building. The lab was um...in need of repair and I was almost eaten alive by the command. Until I pointed out that it wasn't 'red tagged' as per the SOP. i agree with you that a comp is a tool for a job in most cases, but I think you are wrong on the pc hardware. Any guy can just go out and buy a pc, but some of us, like with any new purchase, do some research. So yeah, an off the shelf mac purchased with no real knowledge of what your getting would probably beat a pc as far as usability. But it sounds like you didn't know much to begin with about what you were looking for. I agree the pc market has a lot less control of components but that was never an issue for me because I like to know what goes in my pc before I buy. and yes, I have a pc notebook...works great. Love writing notes on the screen and saving some trees.

Maybe put him in sort of community service type of position where he can see a benefit when actually contributing as opposed to just wreaking havok. Another rocket scientist who obviously understands next to nothing about video game consoles. I think one can hardly judge a system on its launch titles. If you look at the typical cycle of games, there is always one sweet launch title. then it goes to poop while people actually learn how to make games that fully take advantage of the systems capabilities. Just look at the previous generation systems. Is that you ranting about how dead the ps3 is Mr Gates? Or just some pseudo analyst? Meanwhile, when I buy a ps3, i don't have to spend an arm and a leg for add-ons (see cause the blu ray player is included). But thats cool. enjoy your xbox. I worked on a sub and one of my main gripes was the computers. They were old. Older than me. Why nothing new? Because they were proven to work. It seems a little risky investing in these systems and I actually remember when they told us about the upgrade. So nice, but scary because there were more windows boxes. The upside to that was that they could essentially be bypassed if they went down in favor of a backup system. But in retrospect, I preferred the old system as it was less susceptible to modern electronic warfare techniques.
