When Chrome came out I had many people who never would have any idea about new browsers come to me and ask for my thoughts on it. Any type of Google related news has a way of making it out into the public. As a result, many discussions get started about the benefits of different browsers and even allowed me to mention other browsers to people that they had never heard of before.
No joke but I'm planning to write in Ron Paul. I don't like either of the major party candidates.
I like Obama's stance on Net Neutrality and the War. But I am pro-gun and anti-taxes and the Democrats historically as a party don't agree with my positions.
On the other hand, I've never cared for McCain (even in 2000). I don't like the statement he made during the primary campaign about leaving troops in Iraq for 100 years. He would be more likely to support my gun and tax positions but I think it would pretty much end there. He's not a true fiscal conservative nor does he seem to be a defender of individual liberties and I believe we'd get another 4 years of intrusive huge government.
I've been considering voting for Bob Barr but I think the Ron Paul write-in sends a better message.
I'll probably get modded Troll for this but whatever...
But as a server distro, I'm not so sure. I'm surprised that Wikimedia didn't go with a distribution that's more established for server needs.
If you have an argument to make about the OS's merits as a server then make it based on facts. Tell us why you don't think it's a perfect fit on the server. Don't just say "I'm not so sure" and leave it hanging there. Support your position with something that can be argued.
UT, UT2003, UT2004, Quake III & IV, Doom, Return to Castle Wolfenstein all have Linux native binaries available. I'm sure there are some others but I haven't been able to game much or worry about it in a while.
Also - I've downloaded a number of open source games and whatnot (Tux Racer, Super Tux, Secret Maryo Chronicles) for the kids to play and they typically play them more than the games we've paid for.
So... the guys who insinuate that there's no such thing as female programmers get modded +5 funny whereas I mention that there are indeed female programmers and that you can even find a software company that's run by a woman and I get modded redundant.
I work for a small software company (about 45 people total) and we have 3 female programmers (including the lead programmer) and a female QA analyst. Our Pres/CEO is also a woman.
The Constitution was designed such that elections are left for the states to control - see Article 1 Section 4. Before the 17th Amendment, US Senators were chosen by the state legislatures as a type of balance against the power of the federal government over the states - by the Senators depending upon reelection by the "state" - see Article 1 Section 3 (this is something I believe we should consider returning to).
The 17th Amendment didn't need to specify any further "how" the Senators should be elected other than by the people of the each state and was worded specifically to fit with the original wording.
So I post this then refresh the front page of/. to read this:
ET Will Phone Home Using Neutrinos, Not Photons
"Neutrinos are better than photons for communicating across the galaxy. That's the conclusion of a group of US astronomers who say that the galaxy is filled with photons that make communications channels noisy whereas neutrino comms would be relatively noise free. Photons are also easily scattered and the centre of the galaxy blocks them entirely. That means any civilisation advanced enough to have started to colonise the galaxy would have to rely on neutrino communications. And the astronomers reckon that the next generation of neutrino detectors should be sensitive enough to pick up ET's chatter."
I wish I had mod points today to mod this comment up.
I have 4 of them so I'll be good if in the highly unlikely event that one dies. The one I'm currently using on my main PC is about 18 years old.
Wouldn't 300+ million Americans each receiving $1 million be a bit more than $350 million? Like 6 zeros more?

If I'm not mistaken, Safari uses WebKit as its rendering engine just like Chrome does. This might account for any similarity in quirky behavior.
I always thought it had more to do with "Aether" - a concept, historically, used in science (as a medium).
Definition from wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aether
Really good point about the Libertarians. I forgot that you get matching funds if you have a certain percentage of the vote.
http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/3513.041
Actually looked up the code in Ohio here and right in the 1st paragraph it says:
Write-in votes shall not be counted for any candidate who has not filed a declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate pursuant to this section.
This being true ... I don't understand why you got modded down to zero.
Thanks for the info. I didn't know that write-in votes weren't counted individually. The Bob Barr vote sounds more appealing now.

I take that back ... it's responding now.
So of course I'm trying to load bugmenot.com to see what it is and true to form ... it appears to be slashdotted already.

50% of original size saved as 100% quality JPEG - file size about 5MB.
Of course I don't have mod points at the moment. CS + Law is a great combo. You could consider being a law librarian or going into IP law.
Only one model M keyboard? I have one that I'm actively using and 3 spares just incase of ... well ... um ... well just incase.

From what I can find online - Frank Shoemaker is a Princeton professor working on neutrino detection. Here and here.
Shadow Copy is available as a download for XP too - has been for a number of years now.
I take that back. Seems to be back up and running now.
The site's down already.
