you use a fine pencil, like a.5mm mechanical, to short the L1 bridges on top of the processor. This allows you to change the multiplies on the cpu in the bios of your motherboard if it supports it (my kt7a-raid does). The newer athlon XP's have some changes that make this impossible to do with a simple pencil.
ok, i am a luser...i use win2k and winXp (but at least i dont give uncle bill money for it, so dont flame me too much:) ). Winmx, from www.winmx.com is great for getting mp3's and its also spyware free, as determined by ad-aware. Most of the other p2p programs on the win32 platform are infested with trojans like Kazaa is. Now i only why Norton AV, Mcafee, etc dont scream MURDER when spyware tries to get on your machine...only seems fair.
while we're talking about speed. i tried the quick launch on my win2k box. its a athlon 85o with 768megs ram. i didnt find the quick launch any faster. Anyone else have better results?
ok, i plead guilty, i still use Windows, 2000 professional on my laptop and my main machine. However, i do use linux (red hat 7.1 ) on my file server and my Nat/Dhcp box. I am not a uber-linux geek (yet), so switching to linux on the desktop isnt quite practical for me. Hopefully one day, i am sick of M$ shenaigans.

That pretty much sums it up, why kids are killing themselves, and killing each other.
what mitnick did was the cyber equalivant of spraying grafetti (sic), sure its a crime, but no one was really hurt. The government (and their big business friends )got their little feelings hurt due to Kevin, due to such feeling, they gave kevin a royal fucking. Sorry to say, but you step on big business's toe, it steps on you with all 800 pounds. Welcome to the Corporate Fascist states of America:(
honestly, the cases will cost at LEAST $100, and i am sure the heatsinks will run you about $30-50 for a cheap one. Think back to when the ppros first came out and how expensive everything for those were, and then imagine how much worse it will be for the P4 price wise since Intel is hurting so bad from the all the fiascos (820, rdram, etc) their marketing department has landed themselves in. Intel HAS to rape the customer in every way with the P4 to make back the money it lost on their previous diasters.
looks like it will be thunderbird for me:)

We are all lucky, there are still some sanity left in the government. Mega-corps like AOL/TW and Sprint/Mci are not good for the customers, or the general public. I dont think any of us want a return to the 1880's when huge businesses (standard oil anyone?) ran the country, and the government was merely a front for those businesses. Big business is too powerful as it is already.
well, if microsoft is making windows non transferable, aka, you cant install it on your machine when you upgrade it, then that just gives you the total and absolute right to pirate any and all microsoft products. I think the software industry has their heads planted deep inside their asses. I cant think of any other industry that expects you to fork over hundreds of dollars for....for nothing....you dont get a cd, you just get a "license", a license that says you have the right to be fucked (oh thank you ucita) and raped as much as the software company feels like raping you. Well, no thanks guys....i'll just fire up the 12x plextor here...because there is no way i am giving any of you a damn penny anymore. You (as in the software publishers) can pretend to write an honest product, and i can pretend that i paid for it. I think you idiots should be talking to the gaming publishers...at least they have a clue. For example, Blizzard.......you give em 40 bucks, they give you a great game, and you can play that game on any damn machine you want. no fuss, no muss. But i guess doing something makes sense is something they forgot to teach you in Harvard Business School or where ever you learned to be a suit wearing idiot....
well i guess i wouldnt live in virginia or maryland then....any state that would EVEN consider such a fascist law isnt worth living in. Of course that might be all 50 states sooner or later. As far as i am concerned, Ucita totally justifies piracy. From this day forward, until Ucita is dead.....i will refuse to buy any software for any reason. And i will encourage my friends to do so as well. I see no reason to give companies money to take away my rights.
the web page you referenced to is a page dedicated to anti jewish nazi bullshit. Excuse me, but you guys lost big time in WWII. Get over it. Nazism is illogical and for the weak minded.
i run a small 40 system lab at my school (devry - Pomona). The workstations all run nt4 - SP4 , using novell 5 for the network. The novell server in my lab is the one computer that never goes down. And its fairly boring clone hardware too.....its a dual PII-400 with 256 megs of ram on a tyan MB...ide hard drives, nothing too exotic. The only time that machine has gone down is during power failures. Novell may have its faults, but its stable enough as a server and as a network protocol in my opinion.
moderate this as flamebait if you must. I've been watching aol for years, long before they ever had access to the rest of the net. They have always been the sorriest company, with the worst interface in their software. I think anyone who uses aol voluntarily is an idiot...there isnt ANYTHING on aol, that you cant find elsewhere. The fact that people pay 22 dollars a month to a slow unreliable dialup, and get censored and spammed to death in the process, proves to me one thing.....there's an idiot born every second, and they've got mail!
I formally worked as the senior technician at a major southern california computer retail store which sold few pc chips motherboards. I can honestly tell you that pc chips is the LOWEST quality crap i've ever seen. From built in video, to built in sound, to built in modems....sigh.....and the failure rate on these boards is in the 20% range in the first month. Also, PC chips was caught a few years ago using and making fake cache chips on their motherboards. Corel should bundle the OS with abit, or asus, or tyan. But PC Chips?? bad idea
All i gotta say is, is that Usenet Death Penalty takes on a whole new meaning:) Wouldnt it be funny if this turns out to be some sysadmin on usenet who lost his marbles and took out some lamers in the process ?:)
the problem is they keep doing the same stuff....space ships, meeting human like aliens.......etc.........DS9 was a cool change of pace. I think they need to change the focus to something they havent done before. What i dont know......but thats why i am a computer jock and not a screen writer;)
I am a current Devry student. I've attended both the Phoenix and Pomona campus. If your going to major in Tcom or EET.......devry isnt a bad school. But avoid the Cis program like the plague. Its more business orientated then it is hard core CS related. Also.....get your books from amazon and avoid the book store. Talk to current students to learn which teachers to avoid. Most of the teachers are ok to good.....but like any school there are a few bad ones

kazaa is loaded with spyware too. Install ad-aware (from www.lavasoftusa.com) and do a scan, You'll find Spyware all over the place from Kazaa.
Thats why i use winmx (www.winmx.com). No spyware, and it works pretty good.
from what i've heard, above net is about die anyways financially...may not matter much longer
while we're talking about speed. i tried the quick launch on my win2k box. its a athlon 85o with 768megs ram. i didnt find the quick launch any faster. Anyone else have better results?
check the all.js file in /defaults/pref dir........and add it to the bottom of the file......works great for me on win2k
I agree with defending the nation and its leaders.....but Bush's speach was VERY weak in my opinion.......it was uninspiring and whimpy in my opinion.
