Their user base is raising, so virus makers are now on track.

On the university I work for, a whole data lab was infected with what was identified as OSX.Trojan.PokerStealer, which turns on SSH access attack from outside. How the computers were infected, I really don't know, but next week every mac in the lab was proudly running a new copy of Norton Antivirus for the Mac.

Sure, they are differences, but I use so many systems daily (as a programmer for a multi-platform product), that I don't longer care about system's idiosyncrasy. I dislike Mac OSX with all my heart, but that is a subjective thing. Even all those little things that are so irritant for me on OSX are things I have learned to live with, and after some time, it's even OK work on a mac.

So yes, Vista is overall a superior system to XP, with some annoyances, but annoyances are everywhere, and XP is a very good system as well...

not Vista. The problem is: why upgrade?. I am running XP and I'm EXTREMELY happy with it. One of my server is running 2003 and I don't see any need to upgrade to 2008 at all. It is a great server system.

My mac is still running Tiger and I don't see the need to upgrade to some other cat and I'm still running Mandriva 2007.

The days where I had to have the last are gone. And I consider myself a nerd. Normal users care even less.

Note, well I lied , I do have one laptop running Vista and it's OK. But I don't see the need to upgrade to W7 when it comes.

  6. Re:Oh, the potential on New Asimov Movies Coming · · Score: -1

OTOH Asimov should be a helluva lot easier to adapt to the screen than Ray Bradbury's books. The only one big screen adaptation of Bradbury's books I know off (Fahrenheit 451 was IMO mediocre). And the problem with Bradbury's books is that all the implicit poesy and human philosophy of his books are just unfilmatizable (if that's a real word). Asimov's style is more to the point, and thus, easier to translate into images.

  7. Hmm on Fujitsu Offers Free Laptop Upgrades For Life · · Score: 0, Interesting
While it sounds good in theory: how much can you possibly upgrade a laptop? From the article you cannot say exactly what is considered to be an upgrade. Memory: you can only upgrade up to the limit the current motherboard supports, 4 Gb or whatever. After that, a new main board is needed and I really doubt that will be considered an upgrade.

Laptops have integrated graphic cards, sound cards and NICs, so no upgrade is possible here, other than changing the whole main board...

The screen, sure can be changed, but not upgraded to a new size easily...

The catch is that a laptop cannot be easily "upgraded" as a desktop computer.

When Adobe releases the first Flash player 64 bit on Linux (before doing it on other platforms), then they are using Linux users as beta testers and don't care about quality there...
When, oh when will the majority of the Linux community grow up their inferiority and superiority (yes, contradictory, I know, but nothing but the truth) complexes?
