  1. A very clever ruse NIH....... on NIH Spends $178,000 to Study Why Prostitutes Have a High HIV Risk · · Score: 1

Shouldn't someone be asking if this is just a ploy by someone in the NIH to cover their Thai prostitute habit???? I am curious what kind of "interview" the researcher will be doing??? This study just seems a little fishy on a few different levels.....

  2. M$ stole the apple tax from Sony!!!! on "Apple Tax" Report Backfires On Microsoft · · Score: 1

Oddly enough this white paper idea for the apple tax looks a lot like the "Cost of owning a 360" comparasion Sony came up with to show why the PS3 was really cheaper than the Xbox 360.

I guess its no shocker that MS would steal someone elses marketing ploy. Not that it really worked all that well for Sony either.

  4. Management is management on Do Software Versions Really Matter? · · Score: 1

Just remember the same management that throws out this wacked out theory is a parallel of the management that will be deciding to buy the product in question. I would throw back to management how they are going to answer questions of details if you do up the number, to say version 3 or 6 as to who has actually been using the product and what the user base is up to. Really you can attach any version number you want, but anyone doing due diligence will get by that number and realize they are one of the first to buy your product. So you can either poorly BS, or just realize someone has to buy it first and be honest from the get go. Unless of course management choose to be atypical corporate and make up details and customers to back up how the first version of your software has a fabricated stellar history to sell more to those uneasy about being the first ones on board.

What is "indecent" is charging $15 for a new CD that is crap!!! That is not quite right. Oh and I am sure UMG can negotiate a better rate with Microsoft over on the Zune marketplace, if UMG can ever figure out how MS points convert to $$$$ that is.

  8. Re:more choice on 'Make Love, Not Warcraft' Episode Wins An Emmy · · Score: 1

The MMO Genre has been quietly "exploding" for years now. It started back with UO, then came EQ. Since then lots of new games have been coming online and the reason you are not aware of them is because they quickly die out. Examples Star Wars galaxies, Auto Assault, The Matrix Online, and to many others to list. If anything the MMO market is slowing down because so many people have lost big on it. Of course all WOW is doing is giving hope to the hopeless that maybe they too can build and online cash cow like Blizzard has. The reason WOW is such a hit is because they combined a lot of good simple elements a lot of games got right and have a little bit of something for everyone to like about it. Of course while they do a lot of little things well, they don't necessarily hands down win on a certain element. But overall they are the big winners. And before you invest anytime in the Star trek online take a few minutes to find a star wars geek and find out how badly Star Wars Galaxies scorched the genre. Maybe even worse than the prequels and Jar Jar binks.

  11. News Flash ad reps on Nielsen Partners With Sony For Game Ad Measurement · · Score: 2, Insightful

Measuring your in game ads through Sony's network might be neat but you could easily just poll all 10 people playing the game and ask their opinions directly. This just shows how badly Sony is losing money on the PS3, they have to find cash wherever they can. Essentially they are proving why they can charge more for billboard in a game.

Not true, a lot of the crap ports the 360 released with didn't really kill it. Besides Nintendo will keep itself alive with its own IP and all the 3rd party stuff is just gravy for them. I just can't wait for GTA on the Wii when you use the Wii Mote to pimp slap. Good times.

  13. Re:Nintendo Retaliates on GameStop Theorizes Wii Shortage Deliberate · · Score: 2, Insightful

Yes the only company actually turning a profit on a console just really doesn't like money so they would rather not make it by holding back supply. Maybe Dan needs to go back to firing managers whose employees sell games to kids and continue with his own exceptional management policies, as in how to ass whip customers into trading in more games or over pre ordering things that will never sell out in a million years. "Yes sir you really need to preorder Barbie horse adventure 2, the first one was a major blockbuster not to be missed, dont forget to bring in your trades, did you bring any trades, did I mention we take trades." Maybe Dan should lay off speculation and go back to his telemarketer like tactics of commerce!

  14. Nice Give up on Innovative, Original Games Have No Chance · · Score: 1

I love the irony of someone speaking out against generalization using a sweeping generalization. I think what the article glosses over is crap is still crap whether its original or franchise crap. Original games exist and thrive and do well, heck the even sell systems once one hits big. Just because someones original idea failed doesn't mean originality is dead, it just means no one cares nearly as much as his mother. If these guys were true to being artistic and creative than sales would be secondary but it sounds like bottom line is all they really focus on.

However if you do have a ticket and are that put out just have the airline refund your money and stay home with all the bottles of water you want and type away on your laptop, jamming on your ipod. Does it all seem like you are starring in you own little movie??? You would be happy to jeopardize the lives of 300 or so other passengers on a plane just because you can't be parted from you Ipod and your sippy cup.
