Well.. at the internet advertising company we already had a privacy policy set in place.. How they got to it, I have no idea. As for the sites that ran our ads, they didn't have to do anything, since our p3p code was in our http headers. As far as running it on your own site, I wouldn't know
Nice troll.. Microsoft didn't invent this p3p thing.. perhaps you missed "W3C's Platform for Privacy Preferences" in the article.. It's a standard, Microsoft was just the first to implement the client side of it.
At my old job (before getting laid off) at an internet advertising company this was top priority. P3P is actually really cool, and it wasn't all THAT hard to get it implemented. It probably would have been faster for us if we didn't have a sucky developer.
I wonder if doing it with a module for Apache would be a good idea.. mod_p3p, then it reads your privacy stuff from a config file. That sure would save a lot of time for a lot of people.
The heavy duty ones that the USPS is using are $8k models.. The "consumer" ones are going to be around $3k. Yes, it's still alot of money, but it's suppose to come down after a year or so.
I agree.. After seeing one in person zipping around Manchester, NH (Where Deka is based) I must say, they are very cool.. The guy (a Deka employee) was zipping down the sidewalk on Elm St. not bothering anybody.. the only pedestrian problem be causes was people gawking at him (I happened to be in a pizza place). He was going around 10mph along the sidewalk, came to an intersection and stopped DEAD.. it was amazing to see how fast it stopped. Then he zipped through a park and went around the corner.
Alot of people don't like to ride bikes and get all sweaty, they can't change when they get to work, or whatever.. I'd use one.. hell.. just today I went to the drug store to pick up a few items and it's in one of those weird distances. To far to walk (or would take to long to walk) but seems silly to use the car. Since my bike is still in storage awaiting slightly warmer weather, I took my bike, but if I had a segway, I would have taken that.
The work in the grass, snow, and dirt. They'll go through puddles and work in the rain. They're bairly wider then an average person, so space isn't really an issue.
BTW, they were called "Ginger" because the stair climbing wheelchair that was also invented by Deka was code-named "Fred-a-stair"
While the legality of portscanning can be argued all you want, you are on your ISPs network, and if they don't want you to portscan, then they can stop you.. After all, it's their network. If you don't like it, go to another ISP.
Ever run Linux on an iPaq? It's great.. With an IBM Microdrive you could get a whole dist. on the thing.. Load up some wireless network drivers and you can IRC, play MP3s, run Kword, Konquer, ssh to your server.. whatever you want. The handwriting is almost like the palms, or you can get one of those small keyboard things.
If it's anything like NH (we have no sales tax or state income tax) it will NEVER get voted in.. They tried to do a 0.2% income tax and it got voted down.
Correct me if I'm wrong but letterboxed movies are the aspect ratio that the movie was ment to be.. That's why if you have a standard 3:4 TV and a few letterboxed movies made at different times by different studios the black bars could be larger or smaller.
Enhanced for 16:9 versions are "modified" to fit correctly for a 16:9 TV, must like how they used to pan and scan for 3:4 TVs. It's not as bad as when they did this for 3:4 screens, but it's still not what the original intented aspect ratio.
considering the iPod is useless without any headphones as it is, chances are you have headphones with you already to hold up to the mouthpiece of the telephone.
Schmuck.. I didn't have the link handy.. plenty of people have posted links to similar things.. you don't even need a program to do it, just make the folders yourself, touch the files as.mp3 and sync..
I don't have the link handy, and the pics on the link in the article don't seem to work (slashdotted probably). But all they do is create a folder called Contacts, then in there make another folder called, say, CmdrTaco and in there you put files, one named the phone number, the other named the address.. then you just navigate it like you're looking for an MP3, but you just can't play them.
I bet there's a bunch of MP3 players you could do this with.
Agreed.. Plus, does anybody know what this guy said on his website? I could have been something that's not protected by the 1st ammendment, like liable or slander or something like that..
The cost of the "service" is included in the cost of the ReplayTV unit. That's why ReplayTV machines are usually $200-$300 more then a TiVo with the same recording time. Hmm.. that's about the cost of a lifetime sub for TiVo..
How? Well, without something like DAVE that you have to pay for? I don't want to have to smbmount something all the time, just browse the windows network looking for shared folders.
I worked for an online advertising place. They usually don't do click-thru.. they do number of impressions (or views). Click-thru pays shit. They're trying to market online ads like billboards.. you can't really measure click-thru on billboards, but it's the impression, or exposure that they're looking for.
Sure, if they got NO clickthrus it would be odd, but sales, and stats are done mostly by impressions.
You could all try SlashDuh. It's free. Sure, it's not kickin, but it's also fairly new.. get the people that are submitting articles here to submit them there and it'll be right on track.. Plus we're not as picky, and we tend to check our grammar and spelling.

It's still available here.

And to think, they want you to pay for this dribble. They can't even run spell check.
Now all they need is something that will let you browse windows shares.
Depends on the area.. My brother owns a place in La Conception (about 50mins north-west of Montreal) and almost everybody up there says eh, A LOT!
