Because it's legal to trade music with my "friends" MAN! Don't you get it, the RIAA is trying to keep us down and make us buy more CDs! So what if my "friends" are anybody on the net, who cares if my "friends" are people I don't know, never met, don't even know the name of, are totally anonymous and can never be tracked.
Seriously.. trading with your friends is totally different then putting something online that anybody can get to.
I have AT&T Broadband and before that MediaOne, and I always had a rock solid connection, and my IP almost never changed.. No way I'm going back to dial-up
TiVo does have a back door to get 30sec skip. Also, you can fast forward and when you start to see the show you hit play and it jumps back just enough to not miss the show. I find this much better then 30sec skip since you won't skip into the show.
I think they have more of a problem with the fact that you can share shows over the internet.
They don't have a problem with recording shows.. They get along with TiVo fine, ditto with the old ReplayTV. The problem with this new ReplayTV is that it allows sharing of shows over the internet, and it strips commercials out of it totally..
The new replayTV lets you share shows with other ReplayTV owners, and they do have a web server because you can connect to it to set it up while you're at work or whatever..

Then everybody starts sharing edited (as in no commercials) versions of the shows and then the shows make no money because nobody is watching the commercials, then the shows die, and then the TV networks die.
it's a web appliance! it doesn't need one. use a computer if you want to store stuff.. but for me, for browsing slashdot, checking my webmail, and stuff like that, it's just fine..
I don't think it's the transport that they're compaining about as much as the search cabibility that makes it easy to find what you're looking for.. A better analogy would be to go after things like Google and Lyco's MP3 search.
Why would they have to break any encryption? They just have to create an account, log on, search for songs they own the rights to, download them from people that don't have the rights to distribute them, and bam.. They have all the evidence they need, and they got it legit.

Then how do you play GC games?
What about how it's suppose to spin "backwards" how do you get around that? manually spin your black CD/DVD when you burn it?
There was a rental store near my parents house that rented computer games and they were the same as renting say a super nintendo game or whatever.

great idea!
it's a WEBPAGE, it should work with any browser.
You're a moron, but the person that comes in is still stealing, and it's still illegal, and they can still go to jail for it.
Besides, just NFS mount your drives.
Doesn't say anything about it being current, or late breaking, or even new news..
More Space for your TiVo
But I would suggest adding more space yourself, probably more cost effective.
