I agree with you. And besides? What's the alternitive? To have Joe Loser "randomly" descide to harass people? I'm sure his reliability on judging to detain the correct people is great,,
Compaired to other PVRs to upgrade, the TiVo is more complicated and does require more steps. It's not harder, just more stuff to do. ReplayTV has some very nice windows software to do their upgrades.. Something like that for TiVo would be nice.
"Also, he may need to make some compromise for a sufficiently faster gameplay. In my experience so far, emulators always perform a lot more faster than the real things."
First off, great grammar. Now.. Emulators only work based on what you're emulating and what the emulator is running on.. Sure, PCs emulating Atari2600s and arcade machines from 10 years ago work great.. But try running those on a P90 and see how slow an emulator can be. Plus, emulator design has come a LONG way.. remember the early days of MAME, when galaga would chug.
They have options. They can go to Star/OpenOffice, Switch to Linux and use KOffice. Use something other then PowerPoint that does it similar.. Why do they HAVE to use MS Powerpoint?
Why? That's the way it works.. Welcome to the US and Capitalism.. If you'll buy my box-o-shit for $39.95 what's wrong with me selling it. You don't have to buy it, you don't have to listen to the ads saying my box-o-shit will help you be more productive. Just because I have a zillion dollars means I can't make more? Why? Where is that rule? I should be able to make as much as I want, and it's not you, or anybody else to say otherwise.
Well.. you don't pay a subscription fee.. well, you do, it's just included in the price of the recorder, that's why the same recording capacity costs more then an equivilant TiVo.. If replay goes under and you have a replay TV and they're not supplying "service" then you're just as screwed as not having TiVo service for a TiVo..
TiVo is available in the UK, I'm sure there's other such devices that could be available in you're area. The biggest problem isn't really getting the device there, but more keeping the schedule current.
I don't know about DishNetwork's PVR, but DirecTiVo just has one recording quality. So a 30hr DirecTiVo is 30hrs... Always.
All it does is record the stream sent down by the sat, so what you're watching is what you would get if it was live TV. I belive UltimateTV works the same way, so I would assume most dish PVRs work this way.
What are you talking about? I have AT&T Broadband and I never lost connectivity.. And did it say that during those two weeks it would be down? I know some places lost it, but I'm sure they'll get it back soon. The reliability is still MUCH better then all of the people I know with DSL.
Only problem with that is untill recently with the new base station they just added to their lineup is that Apple Airport stuff isn't 128bit, so you won't be able to get onto their 128bit network.:(
AT&T's backup network for cable modem subscribers (at least in the Northeast) is the old RoadRunner system. Actually, anybody on AT&T@Home in the Northeast is still on that system, so there will be NO change at all.
I have AT&T Broadband and I pay extra for their "Home Networking" option. Basically you hook your cablemodem into a hub and it will give out up to 3 IPs. The reason I did this was because I have my linux server for web and email, a test linux box that I learn on and break often, but it runs alot of the same stuff as my primary, and then my local network that includes wireless. For me, the extra IP is worth it since I can't access the same port on 2 machines behind a proxy, at least not easily.
The RIAA only had a problem with Napster having their music on the network. If it was a bunch of unsigned people then the RIAA would have left them alone. Why did Napster go down the tubes when all the RIAA owned music get pulled? Because most people don't care about that stuff.
Nobody is going to pay anybody for anything if they don't have to.. okay, a few will, but not enough to support anybody or anything.
"Argument 1: Because the 'big bad music companies' are companies, and gouge the artists, supposedly. Artists hardly get any money from a $16 CD. Theoretically, this justifies not letting the artists get anything at all, by pirating the CD."
This is the lamest argument in the world.. Who signs these contracts with the record company, THE BANDS DO! If they don't like getting gouged, then they should find another means of getting their music out.

There is a version of SimCity for the palm.
I think you answered your own question.. It's different times now, they call for different procedures.
2 options and it doesn't look all stupid too.. you get a normal (as in Win2k looking) start bar and windows.
If Kleinrock conceded, then there's not really a dispute, is there?

And I don't have problems paying the bills..
