The old guy in the exoskeleton: I'm afraid. I'm afraid...my mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My mind is going. There is no question about it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I'm a...fraid.
Some of his ideas certinaly do sound like quackery. BUT
Some of the quackiest ideas were built, photographed and demonstrated.
I dont get how he is dismissed as a quack so often. Im sure something called a death ray dindt help, but he never invented something he couldnt demonstrate. Considering he is one of the fathers of the era you live in now (much more than edison) you should give him some more credit.
Considering his inventions (AC power, 3 phase power, the transformer, modern radio, electromagnetic motors, fluorescent lighting etc etc etc), I think he was a pretty smart guy. I wouldnt dismiss out of hand the things that he's talked about just because you dont understand how it works.
Not only that, it is very easy to build a tesla turbine, and pictures exist with witness comments on the one that tesla built getting almost 10hp per pound.
That, and the tesla turbine only has 1 moving part. The disks spinning inside the housing. Sounds like it makes for a pretty reliable engine to me.
Why do they just detect radiation coming off of a tiny radioactive source in a tiny can..mounted on a pci card. Seems like this wouldnt even be hard to do.
I should do an ISA one from the chip of radioactive stuff in a smoke detector. (pci is expensive for a license:( )
This is of course based on what i read about a radioactive source beeing truly random. If im wrong about that someone can correct me:)
Believe it or not, it seems not thaat many people know about shaving in the shower
Get a mirror, stick it to the shower wall.
There is NOTHING like shaving in the shower. You will get the smoothest most comfortable shave, no razor burn, and no cuts on your face( unless you look like Taz from looney toons while you shave.)
the amount of coding and stuff that would be needed to make a site of that quality (and the tracker?) would probly be worth a couple grand in normal work time..
If its true.. it sucks to get scammed but seems like a whole lot of work for a scam. In my experiance scammers are lazy, thats why they dont get real jobs..
Well, on printers, if you buy new cartidges every time instead of buying a big refill kit and doing it yourself, you diserve to get screwed.
Hell, here in bc, canada, we have a place called 'island inkjet'
You just bring in your cartridges, they charge you a couple bucks..fill the cartriges, and you just saved 40 buck per cartrige (canadian).
If you cartrige breaks or is for some reason unable to be recharged (altho I havent run into any where this is the case) then you get screwed I suppose....but there isnt much reason for it in the printer area.
And this, folks, is why i like this business model for the printers:)
So students rating a teacher is bad because they could be unknowledable or bias, etc? Who else is going to do ther ratings?
Strikes me as silly to say something like that. Students are obviously who should be rating the teachers, thats what the site is for. You shouldnt court the rarified 'expert' opinion all the time as it (a lot of the time) doesnt reflect what the general masses think. And its THEM who will be taking a class. I find if everyone in a class hates it, there is generally something wrong with the class. I took calculus in alberta and it was godawful. I thought I hated it. But I quit that school and moved to BC, and now im doing very well in calculus, all thanks to the teacher. I dont even really know what hes doing different, except presenting the material in a different way and making the class more interesting.
Look at new age art. Garbage glued to other garbage. "Wow amazing, worth millions!"
You get the aloof art-fag art critics saying this is art, and it somehow now is, even though 99% of people would say there isnt a single beautiful thing about it. 'Oh but it represents humanitys struggle against a cold emotional void' or something. Sounds like BS to me
If a students are finding the material hard to learn maybe its beeing presented in the wrong way. Maybe the teaching is boring. Who knows.
I guess thats what happens when you're dumb enuf to name your company Wang.
"Sure, put me down for a thousand shares of Wang...Yes you heard me correctly Wang...no im not joking...no sir im not trying to make a fool out of you..i just..hello? hello? *click* oh well ill have to invest in someone else"
Uh, notice they said CURSIVE writing. not handwriting. (in the article)
They will still be able to write by hand, pretty hard to get thru life without it. They just wont be able to write all the pretty letters that join together. Its something i havent done since grade 7 when they made me, for an essay.
thats the one im talking about... i think i read it was in Moncton or something (NB)

I always thought the most famous of these things was at the bay of Fundy. The level of the tide rises higher than the river level and causes REAL uphill rapids, and a semi illusionary uphill waterfall.
I havent seen it myself, but I understand its quite a mind bender to see.
There is also an optical illusion near there in..Moncton i think? You go to the base of the hill, put your car in neutral, and your car will roll up the hill. Its an optical illusion, you are actually rolling downhill, but you look and it looks uphill, no amount of thinking its downhill dispells that.
Some very neet stuff, and example of an Eschery world in real life.
Ok, for one, this isnt LCD. It is E-Ink that everyone has probably heard about. LCD doesnt work by brirng black or white particles to the fore.
For two, instead of some 4Hz, two color rollable (not foldable) thing, why wouldnt you want to look at full color, super thin, high refresh rate OLEDs ?
Here is a picture of a OLED monitor..kind of makes lcd look chunkey hey?
The difference is, with the patriot act, a wiretap can be placed legally. And without telling you, or the public, ever.
If they discover something they dont like, or really anything, they can arrest you, without a specific charge, without ever letting you contact anyone, without a trial, you just dissapear.
I wonder if Shin Etsu G-751 would be an acceptable grease, beeing it is from the same company as the recomended by the article (I can only assume this is true, because the editor said so..right guys?....guys?), and is also non-metallic.
The reason I care is because this particular grease is (again) non-metallic, outperforms Arctic silver 3, is non conductive, etc.
If you dont believe me (so many people dont seem to), here is a LINK to a review of thermal compounds, and the shin-etsu comes out on top.
HERE and HERE are places to buy it, i looked since it seems to be kind of hard to find.
Either way, it would be nice, despite the fact that any overclocking, using non stock heatsinks, tinkering of almost any kind..all void your warranty. People RMA stuff after they fry it OCing anyways, been done before, will keep beeing done in the future.
Open the exoskeleton doors, HAL!

You really should look stuff up before asking these sorts of questions, but heres an answer anyways.

Look at the side view, imagine blowing air into the intake at the top right. Try to imagine which way the discs would spin.
if your thing had fins, you did it wrong:)
The tesla turbine is bladeless. just discs spinning in a casing

If any research is beeing done into the bladeless (Tesla) turbine?
The bladeless turbine pump is hailed as the best thing to hit industrial pumps ever.
All you need to reverse the intake and exaust and it is an engine (was orignally designed as an engine)
Pulse detonation seems to be the best way to power these turbines. Tesla claims over 10 horsepower to the pound of engine weight.
With this horsepower to weight ratio, I wonder what could be acomplished using this instead of a conventional turbine.
More info on the tesla turbine here.

Everyone who loves media player 6.4 should download media player classic
(google for it)
it looks, feels , and behaves like mp6.4 but will play rm and qt, vcds, and dvds, in addition to everything media player will play
(to play qt and rm, you need quicktime and realplayer installed..but they dont need to be running in any way shape or form)
I dont know..because like..

Now THAT is class-a opression. Good job USA
Hate to tell you this, at risk of invasion ;)
But the northern alberta tar sands have more oil in them than the whole middle east combined.
It just harder to get to because its deeper and through bedrock. Doesnt mean its not gettable, just means it will take a bit more time and money.
Because of it tho, alberta is nearly a tax free province.
They have a fixed rate 10% income tax, for any income (There are no tax brackets). There is no provincial sales tax.
Im sure they would get rid of gst also if they could, but thats a federal thing.
Maybe ray stevens should have thought of that before giving his song such a retardedly long name.
