And hope to God they haven't moved. I found myself in that situation recently. I went back nearly 3 employment places to get someone I had only met in the company -- we'd barely had reason to cross paths. Good bloke though, I got the job. I must remember to thank him.
Well, we need a new 'basic' economics. If you can sell your time at $100/hr, good luck to you. Every hour you are not selling your time at $100, that is x hours not gaining $100; you are not losing $100 each hour unless you have refused to sell those hours at $100 (even then it is dubious accounting). There is a world of difference between gaining and losing.
This is the kind of economics that entertainment industry wants us to believe. Every time a movie/song is not bought, the industry loses that nominated value. The assumption there is that the creator is owed, whether or not the recipient values their creation. This is essentially counting chickens before they hatch.
think of it this way: A complete overhaul/redesign of the DE is coming in KDE architecture, which, as it is preceded by KDE 3, will be known as 4. The version 4 being worked on currently is a.xx (0) release just like any other alpha/beta product and will become known as 1x. So very simple; ....
Wine 1.0 is not really going to be the messiah you are suggesting... wine 1.0 will be compatible 4 apps. Photoshop (as you said) but three MSOffice document viewers-not the Office suite, just the viewers.
Make sense, and allow me to change my computer the way I want may (in the case of Gnome, is) two different things. Also, does scrolling menus make sense??? I'll read them as you suggest one day, but I'm not a fan of Gnome's do it our way...
hehe, me too! I suggested it in a open developer conversation back about two years ago and got yell out because "people are used to the current interface, and pie menus would be annoying (when you went near hotspots)... ah well, teach me to put off learning to program.
Yeah, don't get me wrong, I think IP is a stupid idea; I just understand the majority of people out there are greedy and will insist on it existing. I'm trying instill the idea that to exist it must be a lot of hard work, not just a brainstorm.
I've used Vista for two months. I just got rid of it. Why? It doesn't do anything better than other options and somethings worse as in it gets in your way. It isn't as bad as what some make out. It is definitely worse than you make out. It is a sports car kit on a golf cart. It doesn't make the vehicle go better, but it is pretty -- from a distance.
The only priviso, that I can see, is that an idea that is described in *detail* with dimensions, materials and/or processes required to make it a product. Also if it appears obvious or even(especially) done previous, one should need to explain why it is different and better than what is already out there. I'm thinking of software patents in particular but there is no reason why it can't be. That takes far more work than coming up with a great idea. I've had heaps. Some if I'd worked at I may have even been the first to bring to market. I didn't (lazy) but it anecdotally demonstrates that it is possible for others to come up with a similar or even the same idea.
So, are you currently in a communist or extreme socialist country? If not, when are you planning to move? I personally disagree with your end statement. I'd rather have no idea of what to do with potential to do anything, than have someone limit what I can do based on their agendas and purposes.
It would be very difficult for enforcement of every project, but the truly successful benefiting projects that don't comply would eventually be compelled to just because of the outcry. If some niche market projects get by without being too obnoxious making a reasonable living, well, who cares? But when successful projects are being obnoxious as in the case of Apple to BSD... (speculation warning on both sides of the parenthesis!) if everyone was being told that Apple was ripping off poor little BSD, the uproar would be rather spectacular.
And put everyone back to relying on the US Government! I think not! Not a terrible idea though... Something similar would put the license back into licensing...
To me, the implication is that NET is pro-cold fusion therefore possibly biased to the pro's of a particular experiment or set of and unwittingly ignore potential pit falls.
So what we(end users) need is a compromise between BSD and GPL. Perhaps a time/version-delayed source release? After x years, or y iterations, the entire source must be released publicly. The creater is not responsible for use, bugs or any other miscellaneous claims. Thus, proprietory creators could still pimp their 'better' version and maintain in house benefits, while end users would enjoy the 4 freedoms and perhaps even be able to predict the likely cause (and thus a remedy) of their bugged experience.
No, but it does make it traceable, a tenant of accountable. You may not know the person, but after a period of time you can get whether they are consistent in their posting. Are they informative, does other research into the issue back up their voiced opinion, are they logical, and do they seem to have an agenda?
The meme "What a bunch of group-think sheep." is becoming a indication of a group-thinker (a misnomer if there ever was). Just because a group of people think similarly, that makes them guilty of group-thinking? I think the inability to resolve conflicts with your own understanding and someone else's, as demonstrated by latching upon stereotypes, is a better indication of group-think sheep.
So wouldn't it have made more sense to go in before the current Iranian administration (who's policy was/is anti-USA) got into power and wound the populace up??? They could have accused Iran just as easily as Iraq of WMD. (which I don't believe it was about anyway.) When did this Tehran bloke come to power... 2004? 2005? I'm sure it was after Iraq, and Iran was considered a low threat.
You have hyenas in the USA?? Well ya learn sumtin new every day...

That would be stupid; the pointy end of their arrows is a clearly defined no.

It doesn't seem to have helped you any; type slower next time.

Sheesh I thought you were EL Lobo and I's thinking that we had seen a major WinFanboi fall!... now I'll get back to my drudgery.

I did, as I was a little tired of Win95... Machine had been upgraded, but not the OS... thus, I bought XP retail.

What is dead, can never die, but rises stronger and stronger...
Cisco? Google? Tivo?
