Well said. And any others wishing to align "open-sores" with communism, please recognise that communism is only achievable to any degree by managing all variables of a society from a central point. More reminiscent of closed source systems than open source. Open source may have some faults (No 1 being not entirely compatible with current economic systems) but it is not communism.

On the other hand, if you are going to advocate socialism, please be consistent. There are a lot of software developers here. How do you expect to make money if everyone copies your work? Are you going to make money on product support? Tell me, how much money have you spent on product support in the last few years?
Ummm... you do realise you are talking to the people most likely to give the support? Sometimes they are even paid to do so?

The corporate groupthink on this subject is off the charts. A lot of folks out there could benefit from a realistic and balanced discussion that properly respects the right of consumers to use and distribute their legally obtained property any method they so choose.

I don't know how Ubunghole can be gaining "marketshare". The only people moving to Ubunghole are people switching to the latest distro.
I do believe "Ubunghole" has people migrating from every os except the BSDs and React OS. Those migrating have their reasons for doing so, but on the whole, seem relatively happy with it.

Then, once Ubunghole looses that "new distro smell", they will simply move on to something else.
Damn, you got me! What you said is very true. It is one of the reasons I left Microsofts offerings, and the only reason I haven't 'Mac'ed out is I can't afford to. Of course I would keep an opensource operating system around as they have a feature the other major OSs don't.

Windows 95, unlike modern Lunix, was able to install software without requiring the user to move around files manually and edit config files. Windows 95, unlike modern Lunix, would just work.
In which 6 clicks did you get to move files around? Also I and several others seem to have had a much worse Windows 95 experience than you.* The trend seems to be continuing. Yes, I know and agree, that linux, Ubuntu, Fedora et al do not work for everybody. Seems to be common to computers.

Linux doesn't need M$ and further, M$ software on Linux is poison anyhow. If you are in a mixed environment of Windows and Linux, do NOT use M$ technology for collaboration. That's right. No SAMBA on linux for M$'s CIFS. Do NOT use active directory. Instead, use NFS from Sun, DCE from the opengroup.org/dce or LDAP. No MSSQL for anything, as M$ will most likely sue for using non-windows clients on ODBC. Lastly, get rid of that crazy MONO for .asp, get rid of ASP from the server, and get rid of any activeX functionality on your Linux desktops.
Twitter, this allows Microsoft to interact with linux, easing their dependence on "M$" products. As you have often pointed out, linux et al, don't need to interact with Microsoft products, but Microsoft users need a bridge to use open source products. HINT: they think nothing works with opensource! (I'm married to one...)

Only if you are worried about efficiency or environmental concerns. If you buy the product with the kinetic energy already stored, you only care that it is putting out more energy than you put in, or it is convenient to you to use. That total output doesn't justify the existence of the device is only relevant to those concerned with environmental impact.

Steady on, that has nothing to do with the perpetuity of energy creation. If the output energy is greater than initial input, it would not matter that it takes 3 times the initial input energy to create the device. The only thing that matters is that the output energy is greater than the drag forces bringing said device to a stop without further energy input.
