I use gmail because I like it as a webmail client, nothing else (I don't care howmuch space I have, as I will never fill it). How much mail could you possibly NEED to store in a company email account? If you/your employies need more then what you are giving them, then you sohuld have given it to them (or come up with a better soloution) a long time ago, not wait for MS to implement remote backup in Exchange.
That and you should NOT have let them foward their email inthe firstplace (just disable the friken ability, it isn't that hard).
If you want to sell an item at a specific cost, just put in a buy it now option. I admit, I don't use eBay, but couldn't you just place the buy it now and reserve at the same point?
as was pointed out, it is 3 axis, however it tracks movement and twist around each.
Then again, so does the WiiMote.
The article does not add anything new to our knowledge of how the nifty little toy works, and it does leave out the fact that the wiimote track rotation as well as movement.
This is known, he was just pointing out that back in the day (ok it wasn't THAT long ago), the CD key that shiped with CS:R (aka CS 1.0), would actualy validate a copy of HL (and you could then go and download any mods you wanted, including CS).
Yes, now CS is $10, HL is $10, DoD is $10.
I am glad I grabed HL1 before all of this, and I grabed the HL2 Silver eddition prelaunch (about $5 more then the box copy and it came with ALL of valves back cataloge).
Some one also pointed out that gunman chronicals (a stand alone game that ussed a licenced copy of the HL1 engine) also came with a CD key that would validate a copy of HL1.
This has all changed with Steam, part of the reason I was suprised by this is that your "SteamID" is based on your CD key. This can be proven by finding those random people with a "SteamID" that starts off with VALVE: instead of STEAM: (these pople are those idiots that bought DoD:R).
Yes, I am a valve fanboy incase you havn't guessed yet (but fanboyism does not rob me of intelect).
I am not woried (yet). They seem to have really taken in the idea of fixing the key problems that Nintendo has clasicly had. They know it was their fault that the NGC tanked, and they are out there to fix it. (a Zelda game at launch does help this feeling)
The only thing that is tickign away in my mind is that they have already broken one announced release date (though every one save me seems to have forgotten this). They announced at the 2005 E3 that the Revoloution would have a smash bros game (internet play ready) at the time of release. I cut them some slack on this as it was one of the first real press talks about the Revoloution (and I am a nintendo fanboy).
so, they have had their one shot, if they miss any more release dates then I will go back to expecting "first quarter" to equal "first quarter, 2 years from now".
The article does not cover that question, the only thing related was the case of idiots that tried to gather up a bunch of user generated maps for Duke 3D and sell it as a product (with out permission from the mappers or from 3D realms).
Now the interestign one is if there ARE any precidents on modding being legal/illegal. Obviously games where they give you the tools then it is legal (most FPS games these days, Warcraft, etc etc). But what about games that don't give you the tools? (GTA? Hot coffee?) or where it is actively fought (later versions of GTA). Or hardware type mods?
Drunks don't die in crashes, they kill other people.
Suposedly this has something to do with thm being more relaxed. (admitedly, there is a good chance this is smiply an urban legend, as I can find no data for or against it)
...reduces the risk of death from any cause by roughly 18 percent
So, I am 18% less likely to get shot? 18% less likely to contract black death? 18% less likely to bleed to death after stripping, and severing a major vein on a razor wire fence?
I remember when Valve bought up the CS team and started selling CS:Retail. $20 a pop for somethign that is a free download if you have a different $20 (could be gotten for less in bargain bins) game. Heck, I payed like $30 for HL:GotY, and that had HL, HL:OpFor, TFC, and CS packaged in it.
Not only were you paying $20 for sometihng you can download for free, but you were also paying $20 for a crippled version of the HL engine, yes crippled, as in you could not properly run other HL mods (same thing happened with DoD:R).
Yes, this is changed now with steam, it is now $10 for CS, and the version of HL you can buy from Steam is $10 and does not include CS. And yah, they are jacking the prices, and seperating content, I still dont' care much. If I were to get on the boat now I could just buy what I want and nothing else (aka buy HL, and HL2).
I kinda doubt they will be stupid enough to place them on maps where it does not belong, I expect things like replacing the Pop Dog ads, and putting stuff in newspaper stands/soda machines/bus stands/etc etc etc.
That and putting the adds on the scoreboard. (this one is a nobrainer).
Personaly? So long as they don't go the route that AO did (LOUD and OBNOXIOUS adds in shops), I don't care. Admitedly I havn't played a second of CS in years, but that is just because I hate everyone that plays it.
The fun thing is that everyones first thought will be, well we just mod tem outta existance, duh (this is the HL community afterall). However, what it would take to mod adds outta maps would basicly comedown to wallhacking, and VAC is relatively effective still:P
I really need to start paying more attention to that and actualy note how they reffer to people.
what really caught it for me was that the report at the white house had used "Mr. Bush" through out (He reffered to him by name repeatidly, but never said president), where as the host of the show said "President Bush" repeatedly after the fact. (unfortunatly I can't give a name of the show or when it was as I honestly can't remember at the moment), however thanks for the awsome link.
Why did they pick internet culture (basicly what they are saying) as the person of the year?
Where there no great people this year? Did no one do anything that really stood out (or a series of events)?
Personaly I think that is true. We have no heros at the moment. There are no more (for the moment) world famus individuals that shape how we act/view the world. All we have are big names that the world looks at and wory about.
My realization on this came a few weeks ago when listening to some random news in the morning (NPR), and hearing a report reffer to Bush as "Mr. Bush" repeatedly. It sorta stuck in my head, it was the only time I can remember a reporter calling a sitting prez "Mr. *****" instead of "President *****", even when they were from the opposite side of the political fence (Fox to a dem, NPR to a Repub, etc).
As for picking internet culture instead? Meh. It hasn't changed much since last year. Bogs, web 2.0, what ever you wana focus on was all just as active last year as it was this year.
Also a quick google for "gameboy iraq" will pull up a number of refferences to the gameboy that the Nintendo World Store in NYC has on display. The thing is fusedtogether after going through a bombing of a barak in desert storm. The awsome part is that it still plays tetris (sure, it needs an AC adapter, and some of the lines are dead, but it is still awsome:P)
Only if you are a fool and take a job with a contract that stipulates that. If I am going to be on call 24/7 then I want proper compensation for that. I you are hiring me for a 9-5 and then expect me to answer my phone at other times, it needs to be in my contract (and if it was in there, I am sure I will have decided if they are offering proper compensation or not).
True, they are not a patent holding group of rabid lawyers. Just some tools that are trying to enforce a patent on something we all like, and thus must be trolls! (note me poking fun at my self here, I still think, from what I have seen, they dont' have a leg to stand on)
However I am starting to be curious my self (after looking on their website)
features Interlink's patented ClickTrigger design.
mabey they actualy are suing over the friken trigger. TFA makes it sound like they (Gamespot) don't know wth the company is suing over. And if that is true, then they really are idiots.
I can't find the link atm, but there are hotels that will check your blackberry/cellphone/whatever in the back safe for you. And a few getaways that will forcibly remove you from your technology.
The device patented looks frighteningly like the WiiMote. It is an infrared device that is set up similar to the WiiMote (if it can be ussed as a pointing device, I dono). I am not sure why they specificly say that the trigger is what infringes
FTFA:
The drawings (above) that accompanied the patent application--first filed on September 17, 1997--do look suspiciously similar to the Wii trigger, but in the filing, Interlink offers scant detail of exactly how Nintendo currently infringes on the '221 patent, stating only that "Nintendo has made, used, offered for sale and sold in the United States, and continues to make, use, offer for sale and sell in the United States one or more controllers which activities infringe, induce others to infringe, and/or contributorily infringe the '221 patent."
Do I think that Nintendo riped these people off? No Do I think that they are patent Trolls? Probably.

I actualy just did a quick check, you need 100 feedback and it has to be 98% good (Link)
I never did get why eBay express was instituted.
If you want to sell an item at a specific cost, just put in a buy it now option. I admit, I don't use eBay, but couldn't you just place the buy it now and reserve at the same point?
Only if you follow games like Dikatana and Duke3D.....
and zelda, and Valve games....
and..
oh alright, you win.
as was pointed out, it is 3 axis, however it tracks movement and twist around each.

yup!

If you don't mind the adds then IGN also states it was going to use the Revoloutions WiFi
http://wii.ign.com/articles/670/670552p1.html
See, no one remembers! but I do!
Probably because I am a HUGE geek, and love Smash bros, and the concept of it being online just made me enter a state of geektopia.
Wait, are you saying that the CD Key shipped with CS:R would activate a copy of HL?
:D
I seriously doubt this, though if it is true, that is awsome
