"And hell, its the holidays so its not like anything else interesting is gonna turn up to read for a few days:) " Well, Mr.Taco, some of us are actually at work, and working today.
But why the hell would you refer to LWN as Eklektix? Why was that plug necessary? That was just plain dumb, you should get to the point, and cut out the bullshit.
Thank you.
I first remember seeing the "MegaHertz Myth" on Apple's webiste, when they were touting the advantages of the RISC design. Linked here: http://www.apple.com/g4/myth/
Ok, this isn't a troll...
Many graphic artists uses Macs, as most of us already know. They learn how to use Macs and to use the Mac versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, Painter, etc. I don't see many graphic artists gravitating towards the iX86 platform. I think they would prefer to stick to Macs, even if it is a slower, more outdated machine, because it is what they are used to. Just like many M$ users stick to Winblows, because they are used to it, even though Linux or BSD would be better. Just my 2 cents.
warning: not a troll, just an observation:
Is this just a cheap ploy to sell P4's? This seems like Intel is just tooting their own horns about this technology, and claiming it's only for P4's.
Linux Speakup is an organiztion of blind folks who 'like to mess around with linux'. This is one type of software to help the (visually) impaired. A gentlemen on one of the mailinglists I subscribe to uses this package, and claims it works well. It must work at least half way decent if he's able to be on a mailinglist, and offer all the knowledge that he has, which is quite extensive.
Somebody will soon come up with a hack to listen to all those files, even if they cancel the service. Then they will be able to p2p those files, and the whole thing will start over again. So there's no real reason to do this, when p2p is so quick and easy.
Damn, this costs $80.00! See for yourself
This doesn't seem like a product that 'real' gamers are going to be into. Imagine 20 guys with these stupid things playing Quake at a LAN party?!
...is a bit of a misnomer. If OSS starts to have a big market share, or even all of the market, it will still not be a monopoly. No single company will have the sole 'power' over OSS, for example, think of Linux vs. BSD vs. AtheOS etc. Don't forget Redhat vs. Caldera etc.
Definition (stolen from dictionary.com):
Exclusive control by one group of the means of producing or selling a commodity or service: "Monopoly frequently... arises from government support or from collusive agreements among individuals"
My boss also reads /. so he doesn't care when he walks by and sees it on my CRT.
Isn't being a /.er _WORK_ anyway?

Actually, this is very much on topic. Try reading the headline _AND_ the comment before you moderate.

from the Well-duh! dept.

How about instead of 130 nanometers, they say half a mil? Guess nobody knows what a mil is?
Yup HERE.
OK, now that you trash talk Redhat, I will say to you:
"Get out of here with your..." Redhat "...FUD"

They are both at their respective .org
FreeDOS
DOSEmu
There is a lot of info on the net too, just google it.
WARNING - Goatse.cx link redirect above... Yes, it got me, unfortunately... Ugh
Hopefully FreeDOS and the DOSEmu will live on!
It doesn't (yet) work with Linux, BSD, QNX, or Amiga, it seems...
There is a cool screenshot of emulation upon emulation etc... http://www.kearney.net/~mhoffman/basiliskII/softwi ndows/program_manager01.JPG
