Pedestrians with their eyes and mind in their phones are mostly a danger to themselves.

I think this is part of the reason motorcycle insurance is so much cheaper than that for a car....the rider is more of a risk to himself than someone in a standard vehicle.

  2. I've been lucky so far. It definitely works better than third-party stuff from back in the day like Tune-Up or Picard.

  3. Most of what I have is from Apple Music/Pandora/Spotify, if you have MP3's or ripped CD's, you could use iTunes Match to get those into iCloud, but you're right of course that you need iTunes to do that part.

  4. iTunes is also the application that lets you sync your iPhone and iPad

I guess that's technically true, but I have both of those devices, and haven't used iTunes for syncing them in years. iCloud takes care of that for me.

they almost lost the right to sell their hybrids because they used NiMH too.

So how is it they managed to make the Prius? The Prius used NiMH, and the first model came online in 2003, the year the electric RAV4 was discontinued. If it was for some "legal declaration", seems like they would have continued making the electric RAV4 instead of switching to a new platform.

  9. Can't innovate on Toyota Is Losing the Electric Car Race, So It Pretends Hybrids Are Better · · Score: 1

I think that Toyota hasn't been able to innovate effectively for the past few years. They've been so accustomed to making bland vanilla family sedans and light pickups for so long, that they've lost the DNA they used to have for making cars that are exciting. This is why they've had to resort to using components from their competitors/partners lately....The Scion FRS/Toyota G86/Subaru BRZ uses an engine developed by Subaru....the upcoming Supra uses an engine from BMW, and the outgoing Lexus LFA used an engine that was mostly developed by Yamaha. Sure this type of cooperation isn't unique to Toyota, but it's usually done by other car companies to simplify cost and production, not necessarily because of the lack of technical know-how (which I think can be evidenced by the Supra's high starting price of $50k USD compared to the competition in the same model segment).

Maybe it's because the funding cuts have gotten so bad that people are angry at the special privileges given to wealthy and well connected.

Except in this case, the colleges didn't see any of that bribe money.....It went to the ones running the scam.

The correct response to this is to end tuition and just let anyone who passes their exams go to college

This scam was implemented because these people couldn't pass the exams.

I saw the same thing just recently. An application and I was working with used a traditional SQL RDBMS, and there was a screen that listed all open orders that was slower than syrup. The offshore developers wanted to move the tables used by that screen to MongoDB for a resolution. They had managed to convince upper-management that this was the only solution. They sure had egg on their face after I rewrote the stored procedures and added a few indexes.

I can remember that when I got my first MIDI compatible keyboard, the first thing I did was start shopping for a MIDI adapter.....only to find out that my IBM compatible already had it built into the Sound Blaster joystick port :-)
