-PS2 Network Adapter - $50 (I bet it will sell for more, actually).

$30+$25+$60+$50+$100=$265. Now, you don't really expect Sony to sell *new* products for the same price as *used* stuff on eBay do you? Also, when you figure that if I want SuSE Linux Pro or MDK Linux ProPack (the two distros that come on DVD's) I'm looking at between $50-$140 depending on what type of deal I get.
Also you talk about a used 20 gig hard disk, this is a new 40 gig hard disk, that comes in a nice little case to make it easier to slip in and install. Finally, Sony has been working on this thing for over a year now, and they probably won't sell more than ten or twenty thousand of them, so going by the profit margins a company the size of Sony is use to, this thing isn't worth it at all.

This is going back to Dec. 24th. If you have a second FP on an article since that date, please provide a link so I can diagnose a possible bug in the program. The Economist article does not mention the fourth and final era of AI research, which has resulted in Mentifex. Mentifex, the Artificial AI Mind, is implemented in Java and Forth. Mentifex is currently evolving at a rapid pace towards full civil rights on a par with human beings and towards superintelligence beyond any human IQ (intelligence quotient). Mentifex will not require any sort of increased wiring complexity beyond a Java VM implemented on a stable operating system. Mentifex is the project that will result in us reaching the Technological Singularity.
I think IE's security flaws speak for themselves in this argument. One of the many benefits of the open source model is that whenever somebody comes up with a unique new feature or bug fix, you can have it in your hands almost instantaneously. The downside is that if that feature introduces a horrible bug, you get that immediately. It's really a crap chute.

Think about it, would you rather risk $1000 on one pull of a slot machine, or play the nickel slots 20000 times? You would clearly have a higher chance of winning with the second option.
