Linux is on the brink of becoming insignificant
Google is working on replacing the Linux kernel: Fuchsia uses the "Magenta" kernel. Linux on the desktop is missing its wide open opportunity. Microsoft has been fumbling its desktop OS for years, but the Linux desktop has not been able to capitalize on it and Microsoft will close this opportunity eventually. There is significant pressure on router and IoT manufacturers to prevent flashing of devices with Open Source firmwares. This is a blow to another mainstream market in which the Linux kernel has a foothold. Linux still dominates in high performance computing, but with potentially waning CPU manufacturer support, this to will be drawn into question.

Re:Rent Seeking
also somehow they manage to sell 3 year old devices that will have support dropped in like 1 year. that should be illegal (they do this in asia. apple actually has mid tier phones and has had for years. they just keep selling the old models - and this is new in box models through operators, a lot of it in asia. no refurbs. but new in box phones of 3 year old phones. thats their 200 dollar segment). apple sells them and doesn't give a fuck that the sw support is due to be dropped in just a little while.
So glad you can accurately predict the future!
When it comes to supporting older devices, especially Mobile ones, NOBODY can compare Apple negatively to ANYONE else.
Period.
iOS12 (just released about a month ago), supports iPhones back to the 5s.
That's equivalent to Samsung still Supporting the Galaxy S4 with OS and Security Updates(!!!)
According to the link below, the last OS Update for the S4 was Android LOLLIPOP, in November, 2015.

So kindly STFU on this subject. You just look (even more) stupid arguing this point.

Re:Assumption
The only programs which benefit from 64-bit are ones which need more than 4GB of RAM (no iOS device yet has more than 4GB of RAM), ones which need double floats or long ints (mostly scientific applications large accounting databases and spreadsheets - stuff you wouldn't want running on an iOS device),
That's not true. There are many advantages to using a 64 bit processor including cryptography. One of the main reasons is ARM itself will stop developing architectures for 32 bit processors. While you could buy and use 32 bit ARM legacy chips in the future, it is unlikely that ARM will continue to develop them further.
As practically no iOS program can actually use 64-bit to its advantage on their current hardware, right now it's mostly marketing hype to get people with older hardware to feel bad and upgrade (even though the upgrade provides no advantage).
How do you know this?
Long-term, Apple is being proactive about trying to avoid falling into the trap Office fell into. A lot of the extensions written for Office are 32-bit, so Microsoft still recommends installing 32-bit Office instead of 64-bit Office a decade after we transitioned to 64-bit Windows.
The problem for Office isn't just that legacy was 32 bit. The problem is that Office hasn't advanced too many features that most people feel are worth paying for a new version 32 bit or 64 bit.

don't forget knock-offs
China is the leading supplier of knock-off, or fake phones too.

Re:Linux DemographicsThey don't need a keyboard - they can just dictate it. Works great for email on my android phone. And it will also read that same email out loud. Don't really need a keyboard nowadays.

Re:Hardware Companies & Telecoms Have Too Much
Wait for the next Nexus 5 then : http://www.androidpit.com/nexu...
Or buy the current Nexus 5, you can still find it online brand new : http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer... -
Re:Nah.
Have you cleared the cache from recovery? that fixes a lot of issues after the lollipop update.

HTC Desire and keyboard weirdness solved
yes, i really like my HTC desire Z, but unfortunately the screen broke about a year ago (dropped it on the road) and now I have to be careful that no splinters fall out. It still works good, though.
There was a very bad problem a while ago when an update went wrong and whenever I typed the letters g, s and another one, it would switch me from the SMS app to the browser :-(
I let my annoyance build up by trying to use words without those letters in my SMSes, but eventually I surfed for a solution and found out that some guy or lady with a Chinese name on some forum (yes, [citation needed], found it, it was HERE) gave a clear explanation and solution.
However I was shocked that such an *annoying* bug made it past their quality control.
And HTC should track down "Zhu Lee" from that forum and hire him/her! -

You mean, like this?

I will take the biggest size that fits my pocket
I might look a little awkward when on the phone, but 7" phone should be ideal. I try reading books on my 4", but it is a bit smallish. Same goes for browsing the web.
7" still comfortably fits in the pocket. I would be preferred if it lost the wide bezel around the edges mo maximize screen for less pocket space. Another nice feature would be a concave screen, for in-pocket ergonomics reason. -
Wonder how iPhone idiots will react to this?
Here's their reaction to Instagram on android: http://www.androidpit.com/en/android/blog/404116/instagram-for-android
More here: https://twitter.com/#!/AndroidAGram
And my personal favourites:
The Bad Guy @DamnLes
Apple needs to stop whoever is converting their programs.. Now android have temple run and instagram.. its not special to have an iphoneMichael @Periphereality
@DamnLes I agree they need to stop the guy who keeps converting the iPhone apps! It should be illegal isn't it against copywright?!1 -
uh oh
They've got rounded corners.
There will be trouble. And the shame of it is, they could have avoided it if they'd just taken a look at this.

Re:What?
The typical user doesn't want the freedom before they buy the devices. After they have bought it and have learned of its deficiencies, they want this openness. Take a look at this story about Motorola's facebook page that had a vote on feature requests and the number one was "unlocked bootloader!!!!!". Second most voted was "unlocking the bootloader" and thrid most requested feature was "an unlocked bootloader" and the 4th most requested feature was "something to bypass the bootloader" and the 5th one was "unlocked bootloader" and it so on, take a look at the link below. They want this so they can install custom roms.

Re:FINALLY!
Here is a story about a vote of facebook users on Motorola's page. A majority of users that voted wanted some form of unlocked device.

Re:Not just iPhone 4s
"Plus I have a snooze that can easily be triggered without even opening my eyes, another feature that is impossible on an iPhone and Android, or any other cellphone from what I discovered."
There is an app for that (randomly selected):
http://www.androidpit.com/en/android/market/apps/app/com.zjw.android.alarmclock/Alarm-Clock
"Features:
* Snooze alarm by flipping
your phone without opening
your eyes."
