Re:I'm going to be sick!
This is the product: http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=264291549
It's entirely possible Tesco make no profit on some of their cheapest products. I think by having the "Tesco Everyday Value" product many more people will be happier buying the second-cheapest product ("Tesco"). Without it, they'd still buy the second-cheapest product ("Birds Eye Burgers") and Tesco wouldn't make so much money.
However, I'd guess WalMart would be a good start.
WalMart bought Asda a few years ago. For a *really* cheap product, these 32% pork sausages are sure to please.

Re:I Give Up
In the UK, Asda (owned by Walmart) are selling eight Imperial pints for £2 = 52p per litre = 196p / US gallon = $3.11 / US gallon.
so, um, how many litres would that be?

Re:Most people want a light for their Kindle.
Agreed that asda sometimes are a bit 'flexible' with availability, but I know a few people who've got their hands on one, I saw them in stock at my local a few days ago, and they're currently listed as in stock on their website : http://direct.asda.com/Kobo-Wireless-eReader---Onyx/000518285,default,pd.html - you can pick up in store, or have home delivery.
I think this one is a legit drop, rather than a gimmick special offer.
IIRC, Asda helped drive the price of the kobo touch down from £99 to its current £80 pretty much everywhere, which I paid a couple of months ago. I wouldn't be surprised if £49 becomes the new price for the kobo wifi, down from its current £70 standard (though you can get it for £60 elsewhere, as you say). It still beats the crap out of the £89 for the kindle basic at either price.

Re:Well, if anyone can do it...
No the problem's not delivery, that's well understood. The problems's relationships with suppliers, which for groceries is essentially farmers. In the UK, as several people have mentioned, all the big supermarkets do home delivery. And they all have close supplier relationships. To keep prices down they prefer to deal directly. See for example http://www.tescofarming.com/ There might be space for another one, but the competition's fierce - here's a selection of major chains which already have fully debugged delivery chains: http://www.tesco.com/groceries http://groceries.asda.com/ http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/groceries http://www.ocado.com/webshop (Note that Asda is owned by WalMart and that WalMart and Tesco are the first and second most profitable retailers in the *world* measured by profits.)

Re:Right then
Hi David,
I'm pretty sure you're in the UK. Here are some of Amazon.co.uk's rivals, who also do delivery:
It's as simple as ordering from Amazon's rivals instead of Amazon. You don't even need to move from your seat!
Isn't internet capitalism grand?

Re:Failed slashvertisment
No you can't. You missed the fact that this PC is being sold in Europe. The UK equivalent of Walmart is ASDA (which is owned by Walmart). The only desktop PC they sell at the moment is this thing, which costs £400 - the equivalent of €460. So the "slashvertised" PC being discussed is about 100 Euros cheaper than the best you could buy at the UK's "Walmart". It's probably a similar story in the rest of Europe.

Some Linux Netbooks are not 'hidden'
Take the UK arm of Walmart. They are selling an Elonex Netbook with Linux for less than £150.00 However, I'd like to see XP or Vista running on it. 2Gb SSD 128Mb Ram http://direct.asda.com/Laptops-+-Handhelds/4061,default,sc.html The Elonex is in plain view. There is another model available for £190.00 Via CPU 512Mb Ram 80Gb HDD There you have it, even Walmart is selling Linux Netbooks.

Wake up Slashdot
Online Takeout delivery never went away.
From where I am in England I can order groceries online from:
http://www.tesco.com/superstore/p/help/quick.htm
http://www.asda.com/asda_shop/sys/web_sys01_b_init ialise.jsp
Pizza from:
http://www.papajohns.co.uk/pizzas.aspx?StoreID=194 (Papa Johns in York)
http://www.dominos.co.uk/
Those are the places I remember anyway, but suffice to say that it's pretty easy to get things delivered online. -
Already popular in the UKAll of the major chain stores in the UK do this. Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose.
You specify a delivery slot (depending on the company this can be in one- or three-hour increments) place your order and wait.
They're delivered from the local store in small vans with refrigeration units. If something is out of stock they'll deliver a replacement item. Anything you don't want (ordered too much milk? pears overripe?) you can send back with the driver and the amount is deducted from your bill.
Tends to work very well.

Re:why?
Undergound shops? Yeah, these little shops are well underground In fact, you have to go DEEP underground to find a shop that would sell region free players!
O.K, I guess it depends on exactly where you are in this big place called "Europe", but hey, I've got stacks of R1 disks...
