Re:Why Damore is wrong
You've actually got it backwards. The null hypothesis in this case is "there is no gender-based discrimination." Since you cannot prove a negative (e.g. "reindeer can't fly"), it becomes the null hypothesis, and the burden of proof falls upon those trying to disprove it.
Bwahaha LOL you've outed yourself as an idiot and left your argument without a foundation! Not only for believing anti-scientific "can't prove a negative" nonsense, but because the very link you point to also points out what hogwash it is! Have another:

Re:Devil's advocate here...
A basic precept of science is that you can't prove a negative.
Can we please stop circulating this little bit of folk "wisdom" now?
Proofs of non-existence by reductio ad absurdum are common. Euler's proof of the non-existance of a largest prime number is one notable example.
More discussion here.

Re:Glad they found the error
Yeah, right.
"You can't prove a negative" and all that.
Guess what, "You can't prove a negative" is a negative, so how are you gonna prove that?
What if you substitute your proposition with its negation?

In relation...to this
I have taken roughly half of my courses online in a masters program at bloomsburg university. Attendance was a required part of the grade, but even more so was journals, weekly homework, tests, group work and case studies.
What i am trying to say is, that attendance in these classes were almost 90% or higher for most students in the online chats. What was really significant was rather making the student work so hard, and give them extra work, so that incase some part was missed during the charts, summaries or power point slides, it was found and dealt with. Thereby, it almost forces a student to ask questions if they did not understand things.
I actually learned more in my online classes than i ever learned in my regular ones, as its pace, requirements and utter demand on oneself to perservere were so high. If offered for undergraduate students, i do not think that the program would have been as successful, as i remember my work ethic only a few years before taking these corses online.

Instructional TechnologyThe science of using computers with the goal of educating people. The computer side isn't nearly as hard as dealing with the people.
I took the masters program offered by the Bloomsburg University IIT. The program covered the use of modern multimedia tools and techniques (and some light programming) in conjuction with instructional design and task analysis.
There are quite a few other similar programs out there - be mindful that there is a whole track at other colleges focused simply on instructional design - thats not not as technical and tends to focus on academic issues regarding computers in education and CBT.
One of the most interesting things you can with this degree is get an Instructional Technology Specialist certificate. Then you are certified to direct technology operations for an entire school district. Now you're working with people!

Here is what happens when airports depend upon Windows...
Check out this animated movie. Warning: web page in French, but the movie needs no translation: click on "Watch the movie link" at the bottom.(You have to watch nearly the entire movie, to understand why I'm mentioning it. Sorry, can't explain any more, as that would spoil the joke.

Their Web site says that the system...
...runs Windows.
Is this really the best choice for something that thousands (or tens of thousands) of people will see each day as they drive down the highway?
At the PATH terminals in New Jersey, they have "PATHVision" displays. They run Windows. For a long time, virtually every day, pretty much half of the terminals were displaying an error dialog or worse. I also think I saw one of their ticket vending machines displaying a BSoD.
I really wish that companies who come up with stuff this cool would not depend so heavily on Windows. Imagine driving down the highway and seeing a gigantic, 50-foot-wide Blue Screen of Death. If my experiences with the PATHVision monitors were an example of what is to come... well, it could happen!

Re:This is good news
Israel refuses to extradite murderers and war criminals. I somehow doubt they would be inclined to collect fines on spammers. Facts are facts.
Yup israel is one of the most spam friendly in the world behind china.
Mass Mailers have moved their operations to Places like Turkey & Israel & China because those governments dont care about spam as long as you dont spam their people.
"your website is pure racism and antisemitsm"
Since I respect Slashdot and wish to stay on topic, I won't respond to your Jewish/Israeli propaganda. But do realize that people are waking up to your racist warmongering.

Excuse me for posting as an AC. but I already modded some and do not want those points to be wasted.
Here is the follow-up on the Bets Buy comparative shopping story. Mr. Kahlow sued and lost. Not sure if he appealed the verdict or not. And anyone knows if Best Buy's policy regarding comparative shooping has been changed or not?
