Re:I love numbers but....
You're probably right. But let's be clear--we definitely don't want another Long Island.
-
Actually ...
Of course they'll still be restricted to the equestrian events (ha ha).
... I was thinking of the Top Chef event (ha, ha). -
Re:Well first...
It's a US pop culture reference to Heidi Klum, not an anti-German slur. Come to think of it, isn't it a spinoff of her identical German show?
-
Sigh...
I first read this as "Anatomy of Runway Project" and thought of Heidi Klum.
I am *so* disappointed with the actual article... -
Should be great for cooking...
A cake with a geometric-shaped bubble in the middle with cream filling. Either Rachael Ray will be all over this, or it will be quick fire challenge on next season's Top Chef. The possibilities are endless.

Simpsons' Faces
See here for the real thing (maybe later this week). -
Re:nasa should talk to riaa
As long as you don't try anything dangerous like sliding the shuttle over the edge of a table.

Dave Foley
Now I know what Dave Foley does in-between commercials on Celebrity Poker Showdown.
Poor guy, I'd be upset enough to sue something too if I had to host dreck like that. -
OT: The Amazing Larry DunnOK, I just got this idea.
Why not give Ken his own trivia show where people try to stump him? It's not that far from what MS will have him doing.
So then I remember that episode of Keen Eddie (great show killed before it's time). The case in the episode involvs an EXTREEMLY famous man in England (fictional, of course) who had a trivia show where no one could stump him. One day he was stumped and then lost his show. He then became a bike messanger who forgot what he did with a package (this is the guy who remembers EVERYTHING). That's where he meets Keen Eddie.
Still, coincidince? Will Ken's memory start to slip untill he is attacked by a group that is trying to rob a bank because he lost their package?
If TV has taught us anything, yes!
I warned it was off-topic.

Re:Many pros have a history in computers
Phil Gordon - degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech
Must be why he can nail the Chip Count on Celebrity Poker Showdown.
Seriously, though, I find CPS generally more entertaining than the World Poker Tour on ESPN, though it of course depends on the celebrities on for the week. Phil's commentary is a lot more interesting as he generally tries to explain what a player should bet and why, rather than just comment on bets after they are made. The fact that he and Dave Foley aren't whispering like it's golf also helps. -

You mean like these guys? -
Re:Buh Bye
In related news, it has been discovered that the assassins of Gerald Bull was not, in fact, Mossad, but rather the Fab Five.

Michael Jackson presents : Sausage Party!
Sorry, that's been tried already!

Re:IT IS TIME...
Oh YEAH? Well, my gay Mac will give your straight PC a makeover that you'll never believe!!!
...thilly! -
How this happened
It looks like Queer Eye visited the US Treasury.
-
Re:How do you halt this vicious cycle?
Yeah, a Queer Eye for the Straight Guy video game would be interesting... Lends a whole new meaning to "A game is a series of interesting choices", doesn't it.

Re:Sounded GreatMy wife is Myers-Briggs certified and incorporates it into her mgmt-consulting biz (she's also a former high-techie).
I've learned more over the last year about this stuff just by absorbing it from her. The hardest part to understand was the subtlety around the notion of preferences and how MBTI is different from other systems. Also, that your preferences, or comfort zone, can shift as you age and as you acquire experiences. It can also be very different between one's work life and personal life.
Anyway, one of the interesting things she told me when she was training in MBTI was something about data on the population in the U.S. being split almost evenly between introverts and extroverts. Whereas us Canucks tend to be significantly more skewed towards introversion in the population.
(My introvert Canadian tendencies now are compelling me to say 'sorry' pre-emptively lest I've offended anyone...must resist the Canadian urge to say sorry about everything...)
I also recall seeing a Inside the Actor's Studio interview with Mike Meyers where he confessed to being a total introvert. I had a hard time thinking of a guy like Mike Meyers being an introvert ("were you looking at my bum? Cheeky monkey!"), but then I realized how much some introverts are what I call "situational extroverts" and can turn it on when they need to.
I fall into this situational extrovert category, and love playing to a crowd on occasion (though I'm not Mike Meyers)...but man, it sure does take a great deal of energy to do it. It's fun, but it can be exhausting.
Anyway, anything that can help introverts and extroverts understand each other is a good thing. My wife and I understand each other way more (even after being together for 14 years) since she's been learning about the subject and MBTI.
I seriously believe that this is the simplest way to understanding your spouse better...even if you both happen to be introverts or extroverts, just learning about the subject is a good thing. And it helps you understand what drives your co-workers, the people that work for you, and the people you work for!
Gavin.

I agree: Max Headroom rocks
I agree, Max Headroom kicked ass and indeed is very relevant to this discussion.
Up until a few months ago, they would occasionally run the episodes on a cable channel called Bravo. However a quick search reveals they aren't running any episodes currently. I believe the original UK pilot film used to be available on home video, I've seen it in rental stores. However it doesn't show up online currently so it must be out of print.
Incidentally, finding stuff like this is an excellent use for Tivo or ReplayTV. I have a Replay, and if I wanted to see Max Headroom I merely need to key that in as a keyword search, limit it to the title of the program, and the next time Max comes on my Replay will catch it for me with no intervention.
