Re:indict Palin
Completely incorrect. Fruit of the poisonous tree only applies to searches done by the police. Fruit from the poisoness applies only to Batman.

Re:The PROBLEM with American comics is...
15 readable pages
22 pages last time I counted. But you do have a point here. More would be nice and price is a big factor.
Top-notch science fiction, ... or crappy kiddie "superman" stories...
The superhero genre is what makes comics special. If one wanted to read sci-fi, why not get an actual book? Not that non-superhero comics don't have their place but I like the superhero genre and I think comics and cartoons are good media for it.
ADULT-LEVEL STORIES
Try reading a few sometime. But don't just grab some randomly. Look up who the good authors are. Personally, I like Peter David and Alan Moore. Anyway, the point I'm trying to get across is: a comic is only as good as it's writer and its silly for you to assume there are no good writers in the superhero genre.

Bad PR for LinuxI stopped watching Batman (shows, cartoons, comic books) after I realized what an anti-Linux zealots he and Robin are. This comic strip is just one example of Batman committing hate crimes against Mr. Penguin (clearly a stand in for Tux).
Batman is clearly another bit of Microsoft inspired FUD against Linux. I bet the Bat-mobile runs Windows too.

Steve DitkoWhat about his heirs? Steve Ditko is the true creator of Spiderman. Kirby's heirs will be due big time for The Fantastic Four, however. Stan Lee has some settling up he needs to do with the families of the real creators he screwed during the '60s.
For the real story:

Comic Book Geek
I've got a Green Lantern cover as my desktop wallpaper at work, and one of our architects came by and saw it, and she said "Ooooh, Green Lantern! Bruce Lee was so cool in that."
"That was Green Hornet, not Green Lantern," I said with mock disdain.
Then she asked me what Green Lantern's origin was. Before I knew it, I had launched into a detailed explanation of Hal Jordan's beginnings. It was surreal. I've never said the words "Abin Sur", "power ring", or "Guardians of Oa" out loud before.
When the story was over we switched back to talking about our firm's marketing materials, but then I paused in mid-sentence and said "I can't believe I just told you Green Lantern's origin". It was so weird, because usually the geekness is kept pretty private. I don't have any like-minded people to talk about comics with. But now when I'm stoned with my girlfriend, I tell her to ask me about the origins of superheroes so I can go off on a long, rambling, tanget-laden story about the Flash(es), or Cyclops & Havok, or how Aquaman lost his hand, etc. It's a lot of fun, and it feels good to share. And my girlfriend is very amused. -
Glen Curtis Museum
Since you have just about Slashdotted the poor little Glenn Curtiss Museum just down the road from me, let me give you some highlights about this amazing man. More information at the Glenn Curtiss Historical Site.
Glenn Curtiss was not only a true pioneer in the world of aviation, but also in motorcycles. He had the distinction of being the "Fastest Man Alive" for a good period of time after putting his V-8 motorcycle to the speed test. The motorcycle featured at the small museum in Hammondsport, NY - about 1 hour south of Rochester, NY in the heart of New York's Wine Country. The motorcycle, really just a huge engine with a very small seat, is quite an impressive little beast.
Curtiss also developed and implemented seaplanes and aircraft carriers. My wife's grandfather actually saw Glenn Curtiss piloting one of his "Flying Boats". Her grandfather was beaten by his blind father for insisting that there was a boat flying over Keuka Lake!
If you are ever in Upstate NY I highly recommend the Glenn Curtiss Museum. The last time I was there, they even had a great exhibit of classic comic book covers by Dick Ayers.
